Rock Chick Reawakening
3.5 Stars

Series note: This prequel novella was published after the other books in the series and presents the story of Daisy and Marcus Sloane's relationship. It can be read either before beginning the series or at its end.

It has been a while since I've read a Kristen Ashley book and this short story reminded me both of her skillful plotting and characterization, but also her problematic writing style.

Daisy's story is heartbreaking and one cannot help but admire her strength and resilience in the face of her difficult childhood and the traumatic event that ultimately leads her into Marcus's arms. Marcus is a hard man with questionable business pursuits, but his love for Daisy is undeniable and it is clear that without his support she might never have recovered.

In terms of the writing, the story suffers somewhat from Ashley's repetitive word choices and tendency toward over-describing mundane thoughts and actions. Moreover, I could have done without Daisy's jarring euphemism for her "lady bits".

In terms of the audiobook narration, Suzanne Jones does an admirable job and her southern accent for Daisy is delightful.

Overall, this was an entertaining listen and I look forward to getting back into this series as Ashley is a wonderful storyteller.

Rock Chick Reawakening is the book that takes place before the start of the Rock Chick series. I have had this one in my kindle over a year now but I needed to wait. I was not yet ready for Daisy and Marcus story. They, especially Daisy, is characters who has a big part in some of the books. Specially in book 7 (if I remember correctly). That's way I'm glad I waited. I knew a lot of the history but some parts was still hard to read. Rape is a big part of the books story, but Ashley did jump over and did not describe the event in real time, thank you. We deal with the before and after but little details on the rape part. I have huge problems reading about it so I'm glad for that.

I love Daisy and Marcus. I love how different they are from each other and how down to earth Daisy was during Marcus courting. There was hardly no drama or fights. It was joy and satisfaction to read it when you were past the bad parts and now on the good parts. And it was perfect, realistic and such a wonderful story.

And the ending. Wow. Perfect. I cried. Yes I did. This book brought forward some really big tears but I didn't mind because she deserves it. It was so perfectly written and just, wonderful.

I love it so so much, you have no idea.

We already met Daisy and Marcus in the second book of this series ([book:Rock Chick Rescue|7405450]) and if you are anything like me, you liked them both immediately.
Now, let me tell you. This book wasn't light - not at all, but I still loved it a helluva lot. Honestly, I didn't even know- Nope, forget it. Who am I kidding? I knew I wanted a Daisy book from the very beginning. But I didn't expect this. I cried and then I laughed and then I cried again - and it was the ugly kind of cry. I loved how [author:Kristen Ashley|2958084] introduced (or at least mentioned) characters from previous books (Lee, Eddie, Hank, Vance, Luke, Hector, Shirleen, Darius, Tod, Stevie, Indy and Ally - or at least I think they were the 2 girls arguing with Tod in the shop... She even mentioned Bex, the Zanos and the Townsends).

Daisy didn't have an easy life - not by a long shot. My heart kept breaking for her, because instead of getting better, it was getting worse somehow. That is, until Marcus came into the picture. Daisy was strong enough to deal with all her problems (and she was being fabulous doing it, tbh) but I think that Marcus was the one who completely healed her. I didn't expect to like him as much as I do now. Seriously, I was expecting an alpha-male and I got the sweetest man (well, the sweetest just with his Daisy) and I loved it.

All in all, this was an amazing final book for the Rock Chick Series (though apparently it wasn't supposed to be an epilogue) and I can't give it less than 5 stars. In fact, I'm pretty sure it's a 6 stars.

I can never get enough of KA's books... but this one, with Daisy and Sloan, was incredibly awesome. The feels and the sweet, wonderful man Sloan is... Love him!!! I loved being able to see how Daisy got her HEA!!!

Worth the wait

I thoroughly enjoyed the Rock Chick series and this story did not disappoint. It was everything I wanted for Daisy and Marcus. I especially loved the epilogue because I'm a sucker for reconnecting with characters from an entire series. This was one of those reads where I didn't want to put my Kindle down while I was reading it and I know I'll be rereading it. As a prequel, I'll just say it definitely left me wanting to reread the other books now that I know more of the backstory between many of the Rock Chick characters, not only Daisy and Marcus.
