Thank you NetGalley and Little, Brown Book Group UK for this eCopy to review

I enjoyed Tonight, I Burn, the characters are well developed and I really wanted Penny win. I felt it was a little slow in places and expected a bit more in terms of better magic for Penny due to her special black crystal.

I liked how the fairy tales were woven into the story and acted as a guide to how magic worked before the Warden gained control. All the Covens working together instead of being rivals is a good concept and one that is hopefully explored further in future books.

This book really dragged for me. The relationships were formed without any real foundation. FMC was immediately physically attracted to both love interests, but that's about it.

This has a particular air about it, so if the narrative voice sparks your imagination, you'll probably love this the whole way through. Didn't work for me, so it felt pretty bloated and I would've preferred the author cut scenes out to get to the conflicts quicker.

The world is pretty dismal and the witches are essentially enslaved, so be prepared for a pretty grim experience.

Also, I didn't realize this was going to be trilogy until I reached the cliffhanger. It's a bummer because I have no intention of continuing the series. It's clearly not my taste.

The concept of this book was interesting, but I felt like the execution overall was a bit lacking. The author introduced a lot of characters, but the overall development wasn’t great. The book was a bit slow to start and yet the backstory left a lot of holes that were frustrating to the storyline. Overall, it wasn’t bad, but I don’t think I’ll be reading the rest of the series.
