A delightful sci-fi novella! Low stakes, quiet musings on the meaning of life and consciousness; this book is like a warm cup of tea on a cold day.
Minor: Alcohol and Death

Looking into a future far beyond what we’re even thinking about, Chambers is still addressing issues and concerns we face because they’re not individual problems with simple solutions. But she doesn’t confront readers with them unnecessarily and offers gorgeous perspective.
Speaking of, I loved the perspective in this book, and the way she handled darker topics in a delicate, natural way. This is such a cozy book, but it was also enlightening. Definitely one to savor and reread.

This book is a hugely refreshing vision of an optimistic, beautiful future. The world-building is incredible and also incremental, given to you when you need context but never overwhelming you with detail. The characters are extremely lovable, their interactions were funny enough to make me laugh out loud to myself. It is charming and insightful and relaxing and warm. Strongly recommend reading it outdoors, in a quiet place, with some greenery, and your favorite warm drink.

One of the most comforting books I have ever experienced. I feel it’s important to note a warning for existentialism and possible existential crisis, for those having difficulty coming to terms with mortality and purpose. There’s a great deal of conversation surrounding feeling lost and grappling with ones eventual death but it’s handled in a gentle way.fanboyriot's review against another edition

I think one of my favorite aspects of this book was the ending, where Mosscap and Dex are having a conversation about doing things that matter. It's something I think a lot of people feel, needing to do something that lasts, that makes a difference. But Mosscap thinks differently; what's the harm in just existing? Definitely something that humanity needs to get better at.
All of the tea ceremonies, and just the interactions between Mosscap and Dex were great throughout. It was a calm, happy book, and if you're looking for something lovely to get lost in for a little while, I definitely recommend this.
