This series has been absolutely amazing. This book was a letdown though. 75% of the book was just a retelling of the first book. So many scenes between Cas and Poppy were literally exactly the same as the first book. The only things we needed were what he was doing when Polly wasn’t around. Not the exact same scenes with Cas as “I” instead of Poppy.
The
last like 20 pages got me though. Things got wild in the end there. I was hoping the entire book poppy would wake up soon and stop the boring flashbacks but of course it didn’t happen until the last page. Hopefully “The Primal of Blood and Bone” will live up to the expectations the first 4 books set for me.

My main feelings are disappointment and frustration,

Not only was the book too long, but the amount of plot holes it created and the cringe scene that changed my opinion on characters. I can’t put in words how disappointed this book was. If this was a complete retelling and 400 pages shorter, I would have loved it. With the unnecessary “present” chapters filled with Casteel repeating how sorry he is, how worried he is, and how horrible of person he is. I just want Kieran to have a normal friendship with the both of them! The weird red pearl scene was too much. Unnecessary. After the book finished, my kindle prompts me to preorder another retelling from a different pov. No thanks. This feels like it ruined the series for me. The last books felt rushed, too much information, and with the weird brother and sister romance. I’m nervous how this series will end. This was my most beloved series. I’m scared this will turn into ACOTAR.
