Trigger warnings: murder, death of a parent, rape, human trafficking, child abuse, torture, gore, kidnapping, confinement, blood, slavery, gun violence, forced incest, graphic violence, racism

I thought I knew going in how brutal this was going to be from reading the blurb and the content warnings the author includes at the beginning. I did not. I honestly nearly had to DNF this about half a dozen times because it was So Much. Legitimately horrifying. But thankfully once I hit about the 30% mark, the worst of the horrors was over and I could settle into the rest of the story.

It was full of twists and turns and I definitely didn't see a lot of them coming. I don't know if I'll continue and read book 2. I mean, I liked the characters and the way the story played out. But it really was an extremely stressful reading experience and I don't know if I have the emotional bandwidth for that right now.

I want this book to be a movie/series ASAP!
I read it in 2 days flat. The writing moves along perfectly and the storyline is great. It is very gory but you can skip most of the graphic parts.
Loved everything about it and would read again.

Excellent writing and storytelling. I enjoyed this quite a lot. There were points that were heavy and violent, as human trafficking is, as well as the credentials of Assassin, as Nena was, but it didn’t feel overly done or inappropriate. Just allowed you to identify with her and feel for everything she went thru. I’m looking forward to the rest in the series. Very well done.

Wow!!! Amazing book!

Love the before and after because of the parallels in Nena’s life. The characters were so great! The plot was on point got me on the edge of my seat! The culture was amazing to learn about! Can’t wait to read the next book!

Her Name is Knight

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I listened to it through audible while driving and otherwise occupied with my hands and it was great! The narration and voice changes through the before and after were appreciated. Check trigger warnings, but a beautiful story in the end!

This was more disturbing than suspenseful. I couldn’t get into it and it wasn’t all that interesting. I tried. But I had to let it go. DNF.
