3.5⭐️ rounded up but i love a good assasain! nena's story was so raw and i adored her relationship development with georgia but especially with the knight's. the dual pov really added to the plot however her and cort's development felt like it was missing some pieces a little

I really loved this.
La Femme Nikita/Leon the Professional vibes.
Nena Knight is sold into human trafficking as a youth, manages to escape & be trained as a “dispatcher” for The Tribe (an elite group uniting the powers of multiple African countries). A solid foundation. With plenty of action, a bit of romance & a couple big twists.

This book was hard hitting and full of action, as well as great emotional moments. It is a pretty dark book, due to Nena's past, but I thought it was handled well and realistically. The action is well paced and there is enough of it to make the book interesting without being gratuitous. A great book overall, and I can't wait for the next one in the series to come out.

Nena Knight knows all about pain, but she also knows how to deal it out. Brutally taken from her small Ghanian village as a child and forced to endure unthinkable horrors, the girl Aninyeh is now the woman Nena — top assassin for a powerful syndicate known as the Tribe. Her mission? Liquidating the enemies of pan-African unity, which she does with guilt-free gusto.

She’s never questioned orders from. The Tribe, until she meets a sassy young girl, Georgia in a local burger  joint. After leaving, Georgia gets into trouble- and Nena can’t leave her.

My thoughts: This book was so immersive and adventurous. I rooted for Nena throughout the whole book and enjoyed the audiobook greatly.
