I found this book a bit grating and trite. It had a plot that I thought I would enjoy but I didn't.

This book was a delightful, warm read. It was an enjoyable listen and the audiobook was engaging with different voices for all the characters. My rating is a bit inflated because I simply had fun listening.

However I did feel at times this book tried too hard to be tooth-rottingly ✨wholesome✨ (and succeeded) in a way that veered into being corny. There were a fair number of heavy-handed life lessons that gave more of a YA vibe. There were conflicts but nothing really felt high stakes, maybe due to some lack of world building so it was a bit predictable. Still quite enjoyable but a bit flat at times due to no real danger and knowing there wouldn’t be any due to the nature of the book.

I LOVED this book. The characters made my heart hurt. The character development and the growth of a wholesome and caring queer relationship, plus the humour and the ‘smash the system’ plot was wonderful! I’ll miss the characters!

A delightful read about accepting people despite their differences and standing up for what is right.

This book had tears welling in my eyes at one point. And no matter what I was just hoping for a happy ending. The ending did seem *too easy* though. Even if it is what I was hoping for.
I'm read this book alongside crime and punishment, so for what this is worth... It was definitely a breath or fresh air.

This book. This book is just beautiful. The writing is like a gorgeous prose. It's about looking beyond the surface of what you're taught to see to what is actually there. It's ahout home and family. The story is from the point of view of Linus who is a children's services caseworker who's sent on a special assignment to observe an orphange for a month and what he found there was so much more than what he was looking for.  I am not a weepy person but this book made my eyes leak and my heart bubble pop. I've never wanted to annotate and mark a book so much in my life that wasn't a textbook. I want to read it again just so I can write comments and thoughts on it.
