I enjoyed this. I thought it was a very solid romance, equally sweet and sexy. The chemistry between Saoirse and Luca was very good. Luca was very sweet towards Saoirse, but I really enjoyed how she took care of him, and vice versa. It was very cute and worked really well for me. I also liked the angst in this book – the final conflict between them felt genuinely painful. I would have liked more of a grovel, but I liked this part of the book.

I didn’t like the major subplot though involving
SpoilerLuca’s brother-in-law, Miller.
It felt way over the top and completely out of step with the rest of the book, it was a really, really weird writing choice for me. A lot of the detail felt so unnecessary and gratuitous.

That aside, though, I really did enjoy it. It was a really good version of the tropes, especially the marriage of convenience; seeing the two characters break their little rules and how it played out – such as them only meeting in hotel rooms despite being married – was so fun, it made it all the more delicious when we finally got to them actually ‘making love’. It was just, as I said at the start of the review, a really solid romance.

Julia Wolf is one of my top favorite authors. Her books have a way of grabbing your attention and your emotions. Saoirse meet Luca had a house party. When they meet again at a friend's brunch things begin to click. Luca needs a wife to please the board of his company and she needs a guy to help with her mother. Well what happens next is a story of a life time. I so can't wait to see what happens next in this world.

Luca and Saoirse keep crossing paths and just when it starts to get awkward when she finds out he is in fact her boss at her new job, he is also friends with her besties brother!!
Both have the pressures of settling down and meddling family both good and bad so when a photo of them comes out Luca come up with a perfect plan, however a less than romantic proposal. There are times that Luca let his alpha male ego make decision like the office wide email about him and Soaries which annoyed me but loved when he put her mum Lily in her place when they met. We also get plenty of sweet moments as well as laughs not only from Luca and Saoirse and see them fall harder for each other as time goes by leading to new beginnings in more than one way.
I also loved seeing how Miles has grown since first meeting him and really hope he gets a book in this series.

I think the entire premise that led to their fake marriage was too unrealistic and lazy. Also why didn’t Luca pursue art.

Without giving spoilers? I loved the book. It was cute, had me giggling, it was spicy at good times.

Definitely one of my favorite marriage of conveniences I’ve read, I’d wager top ten if not top five :) I would’ve loved to hear more about what happened with Miller, it was such an interesting side plot! I am also such a big fan of the e-mails, they were my favorite part of book 1 and getting them in this one was so nice. So sad that book 3 won’t be out until next year, but I am definitely planning to read it!!

I loved this book, and what I loved the most is that it was such a great portrayal of a romance story. Luc and Saoirse were such a perfect couple. They had an electric chemistry, and once they started to live together, it all felt so easy and right. Giving support to each other was like a given, Luc and Saoirse against the world.

Luc has just taken the position of CEO in Rossi Motors, substituting his father who had a heart attack. The company stock value went down due to Luc’s playboy image, so his sister who is the COO, is urging him to marry and improve his image.

Luc was initially conflicted because he didn’t want to change his lifestyle. When he met Saoirse, they clicked, their best friends are in the same circle, and it made sense to choose her. Saoirse has the habit to always say yes when someone asks for a favor. She’s selfless and generous, a wild and happy woman who travels, only works temporary jobs because she gets bored, loves her family intensely and has a conflicted relation with her mother. She doesn’t believe in marriage because she was caught in the middle when her parens marriage imploded. When Luc asked her to be his fake wife, she accepted because she wanted to help him and it would only last two years (supposedly!).

Their sexual trysts only happened during lunch time and in a hotel room because Luc needed the boundaries between his home life and his fake marriage. I loved that as they grow close, these boundaries start to disappear. I loved their story as they grow close, slowly develop feelings, their fun banter, how Luc defends Saoirse when her mother offends her, and Saoirse helps him charms his clients.

“A lightness I hadn’t had for months bloomed in my chest. All because of Saoirse. Even though I continued to mess up. Even though I was absent more often than not and incredibly deficient at accepting gifts. She continued being this…f* brilliant surprise.”

I loved when Emily tells Saoirse that Luc is her lighthouse, such a lovely description of a woman who needs freedom and a man who can be steadfast for her.

“A lighthouse is a beacon to follow home, to keep ships safe from crashing, a focal point. On the other hand, an anchor locks a ship in one place and weighs it down.”

For Saoirse, Luc was her lighthouse and her mother the anchor. This story was so romantic, so loving, so generous, and the characters just lovely and relatable. I had great laughs with Saoirse’s nephew Caleb who didn’t like Luc and gave him a hard time. What is best, poor Luc actually felt gaslighted by the kid! And little Hannah who made the men in her family wear pink bows in their hair. It was a lovely story with all the emotions and wonderful characters!
