So eine schöne Liebesgeschichte wie von Agnarr und Iduna habe ich noch nie erlebt. Es war sehr schön über ihre Herkunft und Liebe zu erfahren ❤️❤️

I’m surprised by how much I enjoyed this beautiful love story of Anna and Elsa’s parents. I even have a tear in my eye by the end. The characters backstories were well rounded and felt completely plausible for the Disney frozen universe. I wouldn’t say I’m a huge frozen fan but this is has inspired my to watch the films again in a new light and I’d willing read other frozen books too! Definitely recommend for romance or Disney lovers.

This is the story about how Ana and Elsa's parents met and fell in love. It is a sweet tale of young Iduna learning how to fit into a place that fears and hates her people and herself if they knew who she was. It is also the story of how Agnarr basically becomes king at a very young age after losing his father.

They both have to fight against some traditions that have affected how people treat them and what they will allow the pair to do. Iduna's character is feisty and loyal and makes you want her to win at everything she does (although that would be boring.) It was really nice to see some of the backstory the a Disney story that has become so beloved. We also get to see several nods to the original story that just make you want a warm hug.

As a Frozen lover myself, this was everything I wanted this book to be. I won't fill this review with spoilers, though if you've seen any of the Frozen movies then you know how their story ends.

Iduna is a free-spirited young girl who was separated from her home but has to keep her past of being Northuldra a secret to protect herself and (later) Agnarr. While the time skipping for this book is a little jarring at first, it does it well and is exactly what the book needs to get the plot moving. While some character development is surface level, that's expected for a prequel series that's about Anna and Elsa's parents. This story is meant to delve into Iduna and Agnarr's POVs to explore their grief and, later romance, after the battle between the Arendellians and Northuldra.

While the reader knows that they end up together, Mari does a good job at making the reader feel the angst of a forbidden love (which isn't an easy feat). The romance development between them, while at times felt rushed, it also felt genuine.

Readers who aren't big on Frozen might find this story falls a bit short, but overall, as a Frozen fan I greatly enjoyed this book and I'm excited to see if anything ties into the upcoming Frozen 3 and 4!

This is a pretty solid prequel. Spoilers below, only if you haven't seen the Frozen movies.

Obviously, you know exactly where it will end up and the last few chapters are mostly snippets of the beginning of Frozen from their POV. But you know this going in, it's a backstory.

If you keep that it mind, it is a good read. It gives good depth of character to the parents you see for all of two minutes in the movies. I almost wish you would have been able to see them be actual characters in the movie, see them as actual parents trying their best and failing, miserably. It would explain Elsa's fear so much more. As well as make it more emotionally impactful that their deaths were from trying to help her in the second one.

Dangerous Secrets follows the lives of Iduna and Agnarr. Through every twist and turn, I was on the edge of my seat. It’s a definite read again.
