The book was a good dive into the early years. The author I think tried to tie to many things into this story. Some were a stretch to tie it to the future but still was a good book.

What a great book. I was never bored and loved the insight of other characters before the series. The development of the main character was amazing but I wish there was more from other commonors or dwarfs in this book. Also, I almost wish that this book was the first book in the series.

Thanks to Netgalley and Hachette Children’s Group for giving me this book to review.
The Outcast is an enjoyable prequel which is fast paced and a good addition to the Summoner series. However, there was no real jeopardy, even in tense situations, and it is annoying that practically all the adults from the main series featured in this book.
I like Arcturus as he is streetwise but also kind and courageous. I loved the growing friendship between Arcturus and Sacha, as they were very protective and caring of each other.
I enjoyed this book and being back the world of the Summoner. I would recommend The Outcast to fans of the main books in the series.

An interesting premise for a new series (at least for me :) )
I am looking forward to seeing what happens next!

A great look into the happenings before Fletcher's tale. Arcturus is a super interesting character and I was so happy to learn there was a prequel about him. Seeing him as a boy then recalling how he is as a man later really makes you see how much he has grown and changed, as well as easily imagine what else he went through between the books. Seeing some other familiar faces as youths was also absolutely amazing! Friendships were made. Families were found. Enemies lurked around every corner. A nonstop action tale that moves easily from one problem to the next. There's also a few interesting things that happened in The Outcast that shocked me because I wasn't expecting it. It's a great prequel to an even great series and I highly recommend it.

I absolutely loved this world and was hooked from the very beginning. Arcturus and Sacharissa shocked the world when it came to light that he was a commoner able to summon a demon. Arcturus was shuffled off to Vocans to train with other summoners, which put him in a precarious position as he tried to figure out where he fit in with the other nobles, if he could even say he fit in. Watching as the relationship between Arcturus and Sacharissa blossomed was truly wonderful and probably my favorite aspect of the whole book. The later half of the book focused on the rebellion taking roots, and the roles the young nobles and Arcturus played in diffusing the situation. Certain characters rose to occasion to help quell the rebellion, while others selfishly focused on their own wellbeing. Overall, I would definitely recommend this book to any readers that love the fantasy and action genre
