First off: I actually enjoyed this book a lot more than I thought I would.

That being said... I'M DONE! I DID IT! I GOT THROUGH THE FIRST LOTR! I'm proud of myself? If this hadn't been Lord of the Rings, I never would've made it all the way through. I'm saying this as if I've finished the trilogy, when in reality I've only gone through the first book, but Jesus was it a long book. 20 hours, and there was no drama until the 19.5h mark.

So. Much. Babble. In my review of [b:Stjärnklart|22937310|Stjärnklart|Lars Wilderäng|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1408382812s/22937310.jpg|42506526] I complained about him being too wordy, and then I went onto... fucking lotr. It was nice sometimes because I felt like I didn't need to listen too carefully, I could comfortably zone out a bit and like, read an ad at the bus stop without missing twenty plot twists, but then again, I had to rewind three times to catch when Frodo was stabbed so... But yeah. Long book. Very long. Too long.

And I mean I'm preaching to the choir and/or the dead or whatever here but Tolkien, I find your lack of women disturbing.

I'm not sure if I'll read the next two books. They're a little bit shorter, which is definitely in their favor, but I also know from when I saw the movies 10 years ago that there's a lot of war and fighting to come and... that's very much not my cup of tea. We'll see. I'm gonna start [b:The Ark Plan|26116505|The Ark Plan (Edge of Extinction, #1)|Laura Martin|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1450038640s/26116505.jpg|46062678] now which I'm SUPER EXCITED ABOUT (bc somehow I've managed to miss that this series even exists?!) and then maybe. Later this summer. Maybe the summer of 2017 will be later known as the summer I became a lotr fan? Who knows. I did become a Star Wars fan during the Holiday Season of 2015/2016.

I am, however, very excited about dipping my toe into the pool known as the Sam/Frodo tag on AO3.

The audiobook is a totally charming way to come back to this series. I read the trilogy years ago and enjoyed it but there’s something about epic stories and myths being told to the listener that brings another dimension.

So far its amazing! The movie missed so much. Still a good movie but it doesn't even follow the small details. Just rather the big picture.

I love all of Tolkien's story. I find it's real and I want to love in that story.
