These poems are hysterical, and at times almost sweet, but overall they're sexist and violent-though to be fair, that's more telling about the time period in which they were written than the poet himself.

Catullus 97
Really, I shouldn't have thought that it made any difference
   whether Aemilius opened his mouth or his
   asshole:
one wouldn't expect to find elegance wafting from either.
   However, his asshole does show greater
   refinement,
since it has no teeth.
