It started out so strong with a ruthless Lara but fizzled out for me about halfway through. I did enjoy the adventuring and politics. It’s not often that you get a bridge (or any inanimate object) as a “main character” in fantasy/romance.  I was holding my breath
waiting for the letter of
betrayal to turn up because duh it always does!!!
. I’m a sucker for slow burn, enemies to lovers but the romance was a little flat for me after the initial banter.

What an engrossing read. I know I am a bit biased because this is my favorite trope.

I absolutely loved this book. So short but such an incredible read. I’m in love with the enemies to lovers, the learning to trust, (not happy about the miscommunication but also knew it was coming), and the beautifully detailed world building in a way that was compatible for my brain. Truly made me apart of the story with anticipation, love, lust ;), and heartache. I can’t wait to read more and will be right now.

I liked it more than I expected. It was a tad bit YA fot my taste, and in the beginning it reads as a book to wants to be a lot, but just keeps missing every turn of the way. Also it took way too long before it actually went wrong after you as the reader realises what happened. And it is kinda hilarious that they basically both just need to get laid. That would've solved many problems. But still, the political conumdrums that they have, the torn loyalties, and the fact that one of het sisters really is that big of a bitch is kinda fun. Loved the dual POV. And I liked the opening for the new books (turns out, this is not a trilogy as i thought it was, so lets see if this series keeps delivering).

This book was an unexpected 5 stars.  So good from the start and building of action. Lara is a character that you love to hate. But I am excited to see her redemption arc in the second book.
