The reason I gave this 3 stars is because I didn’t like it very much, but it’s not BAD either. It was honestly just kinda boring. I almost DNFed it a few times, but the ending was actually pretty good so I’m considering reading the next book.

I think this was way overhyped and I expected a lot more from it. Maybe I would’ve liked it more going in not knowing how popular it was.

This series is free on audible, so I decided to listen to it instead of read it. I don’t really recommend listening to it. I might’ve enjoyed it more if it weren’t for the awful narrations for each character.

I am usually not a big review writer, but I did want to say something about this book. I just felt like it was very predictable, it was like going in knowing all the bullet points and the main ideas. Usually, I would have gotten bored and given up, but I am glad that I didn't. I did assume correctly at all the bullet points, however, the story that is woven in between said bullet points kept me coming back for more. It is very well written and I can't wait to read book 2 !!!

This book has been on my TBR for a while but I never picked it up. I saw it was on the audible plus for free so I decided to give it a listen.

The first 3rd of the book I was captivated I really enjoyed the origin of Lara and I loved how she had made feminine rage! I really loved how she is the morally grey character in the story rather than it being her love interest, it was a nice change.

The next 3rd of the book lost me a bit it took me weeks to get through it, o felt like the momentum in the first part of the book died off and a lot of nothing was happening. If felt this way pretty much till the end.

But then the last chapter of the book hooked me right back in and makes me want to continue the series. I’m still on the fence so I’m not rushing into it.

Other than that I loved Lara and Aren as characters - I think Aren could have had more personality but I do think it was heavily focused on Lara and she did have a captivating personality and story.

I think the world building was really good in this book I love the concepts of the islands and bridges and the imagery that is used to describe the storms, the forest the waters around them.
