Immortal Ever After by Lynsay Sands

Valerie Moyer is a veterinarian. Her days involve house cats and pet dogs – not crazed rogue vampires. But after getting kidnapped and trapped in a cage, everything is about to change. Valerie escapes but her ordeal with vampires is far from over. She meets Anders – an immortal whose field of work leads him to protect innocents from the blood thirsty rogues. Life mates, a pregnant vampire and a crazy rogue after Valerie – it seems that their courtship is going to be anything but easy.

I enjoy Lynsay Sands’ Argeneau novels. They’re fun, romantic, sexy and guaranteed to deliver a somewhat satisfying happily ever after. The only problem is after 18 novels, things start to get a little repetitive. Valerie’s kidnapping by rogues felt eerily similar to that of Leigh’s (Bite Me if You Can #6) or Dani’s (The Immortal Hunter #11). That said, Sands still manages to keep things interesting with Leigh’s pregnancy, a well behaved German Shepard and many guest appearances of life mates from the previous books in the series.

I liked the romance between Anders and Valerie. They got to know each other (as well as people can in a matter of days) and their chemistry was high. Perhaps Valerie was a little too okay too quickly with being the life mate of an immortal blood drinking man born in 1357. Apart from that – this book is flirty and fun. Not my favourite in the series but still an entertaining and romantic read.

Anders and Valerie are such hotties together! Loved their story. And any addition in this series with a large amount of Lee and Lucien is good in my book (pun intended)
Lee and Valerie were such badasses together oh my god??? Like saving themselves from kidnapping while Lee was going into labour??? Fierce

Einfach so toll.

Well, Sands came through just like I knew she would. This is the first paranormal romance of hers I’ve read and I really enjoyed it! It doesn’t hold a candle to her highland romances, but that might be more about my preference for highland than her writing.

Anders and Valerie’s love story was both fun and ridiculous. Sands’ play on the usual vampire story had interesting features and was definitely different than the usual. I have to say, I always appreciate how she has the women save themselves just about as often as the men save them. It’s a nice balance.

The plot of this story played out well- the timing was just right, not too slow or fast. I was never bored but nothing felt rushed. It was pretty easy to predict when something bad was going to happen, but how the characters got out of those situations was unexpected!

And the “life mates shared pleasure” thing was so strange and I loved it. Nice job, Sands!

Updating my library borrows that i haven't listed on GR yet

Ok I had no idea these books were part of a series? I was just looking for vampire books and found this one along with [b:The Immortal Who Loved Me|20452210|The Immortal Who Loved Me (Argeneau #21)|Lynsay Sands|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1407211780l/20452210._SY75_.jpg|31832015]. I definitely enjoyed this one so much more! It was more vanilla that the other book, but I also found myself enjoying the characters a lot more. I actually cared about Valerie and waited for the moment everything would be revealed with tension! My 2 issues is that it was very slow and the plot was pretty nonexistent for the majority of the book. Hence the missing star. I'd definitely come back to this one for a reread though.

I read this book because it takes place in my hometown, Cambridge, Ontario. The scenes where they go to Swiss Chalet and Tim Horton's reminded me so much of home!

I love that so many of Sands female characters are strong and can stand up for themselves, rather than the "damsel in distress" that is used in so many other romance novels. The same is true with Valerie, this novel's main female character. She escapes from the rogue immortal who is holding her captive and goes to live with Lucian and Leigh in their home until she recovers from her injury...while falling in love with Anders.

This was a great romance novel and I found myself laughing at some parts in the book. For example, when Valerie is examining how Bricker's fangs suck up the blood on their own.

Good enough. Enjoyable, but very paranormal LITE. Reminded me of those Harlequin Romances back in the early 80. Just a typical sweet romance story.
