I loved the Fae Chronicles and the spin-offs but I didn’t love this one. For me this was 2,5-3 stars...
It was okay but not my favorite. I just found it really frustrating that they took 1 step forward and then 2 steps backward on their relationship every other page..
That said I will continue the series

I am glad to have read the opening comments that the author included in this book because they prepared me for the experience of not liking the hero. This isn't the first time this author added this type of warning in her books, but it was the first time that I actually didn't like the Hero. I had to relax my expectations and go with the flow. This is how to approach this book. Don't take it too seriously (except the scenes that beg for it), and be a bit more accepting. Don't quit just because he pisses you off, because he will. Just keep it going and don't compare him to all your personal expectations as to what a "perfect hero" is. Amelia Hutchins has made the best Alpha Asshole Heroes, but this is the first time that he won't be redeemable for quite a long time. So go with it.

Otherwise, the story is full of the actions, sex, dirty talk, and women who wont' roll over that this series is known for.

With that being said, I liked it, I would read it again, and I recommend it to anyone who has read this series.

I should've heeded the warning.

Blane had zero character growth even until the end. His personalities whiplash back and forth from vengeance-seeking bastard to my-dragon-chose-you-so-I-guess-you're-mine idiot. Blane is the poster child, a cautionary tale for "never argue with stupid people...".

Ciara was of the Fae Horde, sister of the King. Blane snuck into the castle and kidnapped her in hopes to lure her brother into their camp and kill him. Blane brought her back to camp and tied her to a pole out in the open. People stoned her and he had the audacity to act like he was surprised. Then he tied her to a pole again and a boy took his anger out on her with a stick--he, also was surprised. The author warned that Blane was a bastard, but he was apparently the biggest fucking idiot there was. How was he even king? Somebody really should challenge him for that title.

Ciara, strong and skilled with a sword, was a doormat. She fought back several times but she always ended up relenting and going back to him because his dragon chose her as his mate and sort of saved her life when she was a kid. Therefore, what, she felt obligated to stay with him because of that? Blane got his friend to get her drunk so she wouldn't be aware when he married her. The aftermath? She just took it with a shrug basically. She might be angry but she wasn't doing anything about it.

There was OW drama that completely got swept under the rug. It's just there in the background, no in-depth explanation.

The whole main plot with the peace thing was so stupid. With the way Ciara secured the peace, she could've done it pages and pages ago. Especially with Synthia being able to just teleport her away, this book could've been cut in half. Half of the book with broody Blane added nothing to the book except just to make him look like a bigger asshole.

There were lots of exposition dumps and big walls of text, my god. These characters talk in huge paragraphs like they're doing a theatre monologue. And for a dragon book, there wasn't much dragoning going on.

What a story. Amelia writes badass heroines who have their own journey to go through without being a damsel and dealing with alpha-a-holes pursuing them.

Ciara has intrigued me since we met her in the Far Chronicles and I lover her in this story. Blane makes you want to reach into the book and slap some common sense into him to realise what he has Infront of him.

Definitely should be on your to be read list if you love Amelia's books.

After readying the reviews I was hopeful that it would be good and I wasn’t let down. Amelia Is an excellent writer and this book makes you feel all the emotions, all the twists and turns. I’m reading in her suggested order and all the series just go together seamlessly. I will be sad when I finally finish it.

I'm feeling the vibes...

...and by vibes I mean the ghosting ones.

Claiming the Dragon King was a struggle for me. From the very beginning, I knew that this was going to be rough ride because I hated absolutely everything. Blane? Loathed him entirely. It was actually quite easy to do so. Now I love a good asshole every now and then but I just wanted to punch him.. a lot. Then there's Ciara who was okay but, uh, I still didn't like her either.

There's this one thing that really frustrates me the most and that's communication. If one can not talk about their feelings, emotions, the day, what they ate for a meal, or basically anything else in the entire fucking world - then I will not be able to believe that you will get a happily ever after with someone else. It actually hurts my brain to even begin thinking that way because if you can't talk about your love of grilled cheese and tomato soup on a cold ass day.. how am I going to think you can say 'I love you' to an actual person?

It will not happen people.

So, please talk about your feelings or I will scream and pull out my hair. Bald Alaina is not a great look people.

In the end, it's safe to assume that I disliked this entire book. I will admit, though, that the almost death experience made me feel a little bit better.

Well that was as Hot as a Jalapeno!!!!

Ciara is Abducted by the believed extinct Dragon king, as hes holding her hostage i think he forgot Fae need to feed, it a very intimate way... ensuing much sheet fuffling!!!

I loved it along with all Amelia Hutchins stuff, but felt it was a condensed book of Syn and Ryders story with a few variations... but yea the main Gist of the Fae chronicles till book 3 is this book....

A few spoilers to follow

Heroine is forced to spend time with Hero

Hero has an ex in the background to stir things up

Heroine ends up shagging hero and getting claimed by his inner beast, who knocks her up and marks her.

Has sexy times on a horse.

Hero has inner self battles that he cant really be in love....can he???

A close friend or brother of the Hero's that flirts and makes Heroine feel safe and gives her the basics of the situation

A big obstacle to overcome, that puts lives at risk making couple realize their true feelings....

I still loved it, still a 5 star... just don't read it straight after fae chronicles........
