In a land where citizens are dying of fever, there is only one treatment, and there isn’t enough for everyone. Tessa and Wes steal from the rich and distribute it to the poor until things go badly. The world building is excellent, and feels relevant in the world of Covid. The characters are complex and engaging and the political intrigue keeps the reader guessing.

I thought this book was pretty good. The plot twist in the beginnig.. okay, sooooo goood!!! I was happy with that! I enjoyed how each chapter altrinated between the perspectives of Tessa and Corrick and that made the story more interesting. One thing I didn't enjoy about the book was how much castle politics there were incorporated into the story. It made it a bit confusing at times. The characters were well written and the writing was good quality. There was romance, but it was one of the two stoylines. I thought the romance was farely well written, but a bit dramatic.
Overall, I enjoyed this book amd would recommend it to anyone who likes a good romantacy!

Honestly this book was quite dark and depressing from the start. The politics side was a bit confusing and not something I'm massively invested in. I might pick it up later when I can handle a bit more death and sadness because I think I needed to read something a bit more light-hearted. Nothing legitimately wrong with this book just not for me 🤷‍♀️

A fast paced (very loose) retelling of Robin Hood with a slow burn enemies to lovers romance.
I’m looking forward to reading more about the political implications following the fallout of the first book and I have already downloaded the second book in the trilogy.

I would say this reads as upper YA  dystopian fantasy with dark elements/themes. I was hooked as I started reading this, and very quickly the author had my jaw dropping with surprise. You have this kingdom that is facing an illness, and struggling to give medicine to everyone. Tension is rising and though the king has strict restrictions on the flower that seems to be halting most things, there is an underground market risking their lives to get the medicine - whether for greed or for more.

The romance is definitely a sub plot, and the focus is more on the sickness affecting the kingdom, but I like how it was done. The book feels like a combination of the futuristic dystopian novels and a fantasy setting. There are magical/fantasy elements and I think everything blended pretty well.

Over pretty good and I had a good time reading it, will definitely be continuing to book 2.
