All Your Perfects

4.5/5 Stars!!!

“The problem is, love and happiness are not concordant. One can exist without the other.”

In this story we follow a married couple named Quinn and Graham and their journey through marriage, they met during one of the most devastating days of their lives when both of their partners were cheating on them. Thus, we get to see their lives in two different periods, one is their past: how they met and became a couple and the other is their present lives: married couples who are struggling to have children.
Ergo, this is their story! It shows both the good and bad side of marriage, It's not a story about how perfect a married life is, but rawness within. It makes you believe in love and hope. The story goes back and forth between the main characters' past and the present life. This book was so real, intense, heartbreaking and beautiful! It's one of those books that will definitely stay with me for a while after finishing it. I think the author did a wonderful job on going back and forth with their past and present, because if it were only about their past all we could have see is that how happy and flawless their relationship is and if it were only about their present life all we could have seen were how depressed and distant they became after all those years of trying to stay the perfect happy couple.

“Confrontation leads to action. Avoidance leads to inaction.”

Colleen Hoover always puts similarities in her book, until now I've read 4 books of hers and they're all so similair to each other with the plots, characters and their traumatizing pasts, the facets and etc.
For example: Graham's personality especially his cockiness reminded me of Ben from 'November 9' or the main characters' closeness with their siblings.
Either way, what this story's main focus was that marriage isn’t easy and being in love with each other isn’t enough either, marriage takes more than that. You have to communicate with your other half about what’s going on in your mind because if you don’t it’ll only lead into ugly things like growing apart from each other or worse. And sometimes the life that you have planned for yourself won't happen the way you want them to, it comes with full of surprises, they can either be bad or good and one has to be prepared for both.

Parts I didn't like/made me emotional:

I didn't like Quinn's mother, first of all she was a gold digger and second she wouldn't care less about her daughters' desires or their feelings.
And when Graham cheated on Quinn, I just can't tolerate a cheating spouse no matter how likeable they are, but in this story it was good that it happened (ok, this may sound bad and maybe some will disagree) but it gave the couple the chance to think about their actions and speak out their true feelings and why they aren't the same with each other anymore just like the old times.
The epilogue could have been much better, but the author tried to keep this story as realistic as possible. I guess I just wanted to see a happily ever after, it was a satisfying ending but nothing more.
The part when Quinn suffered from miscarriage through one of her worst days in her life has devastated me the most, both Graham and Quinn tried so hard to have a child and when Quinn does get pregnant she doesn't even notice it (which was kind of odd, because she was already pregnant for a couple of months but had no idea) and yet both she and Graham find out about it after losing the child.

“Apologies are good for admitting regret, but they do very little in removing the truth from the actions that caused the regret.”

The whole time while reading this book I was putting myself in both Quinn's and Graham's shoes, I just couldn't help myself but feel their struggles and pains as if they were happening to me. Every sentence in this book was heartbreaking and in the meantime heartwarming, is that even possible? Well, Colleen made it possible.
This was a very emotional book filled with love, dispair, heartbreak and finding one's way through the darkness of what life can be at certain times. It's a beautiful book about hope and dreams and finding peace when they seem so far from your grasp.

Whenever I’m in a reading slump, I know I can count on Colleen Hoover to bring me out of it. Her writing is just so amazing and captivating.
This book is written with each chapter being a different time period. There’s “Now” chapters that are devastating and make me cry, yet give me so much hope and want for a happy ending for the characters, and there are “Then” chapters which to me “blocked” the storyline of what will happen in the now. But I loved it. The chapters always ended at the best parts because it just made me want to continue reading so I could get to the next chapter of both “Then” and “Now”.

It was an okay book. I even shed a few tears.

I really liked the beginning and loved the ending. However, I had a few issues with the chapters inbetween. They seemed pretty repetitive and kinda boring but mostly i had the problem with the way they “got together”

they already met eachother a few months earlier (aka the first chapter of the book) & when they meet for the second time, they talk a bit and then later he turns up to her apartment saying that the “look” she gave him, seemed to him to him like an invitation to just come over. I just hate how it’s normalized that there is a “look” or the whole “fuck me eyes” trend. Those things just help invalidate rape victims because there are certain cases where the rapist would say that the victim just looked at them like that. Media has to stop normalizing that a “look” can indicate something that it just cant.

(the guy in the book didnt do anything but it still weirded me out the whole time they mentioned the “look”)

Infertility is something dreadful for couples who want to conceive & this book deals with the havoc it wreaks on relationships & how hard communication becomes.
A sensitive complex topic dealt with very well

Definitely within the authors style. Didn’t love the main character but her emotions and feelings were relatable. I liked the way Hoover approached this topic and I saw behaviors and feelings that made a lot of sense, things no one really talks about. Easy to read and went through the book quickly.

I really struggled to emotionally connect with this one which has never been a problem for me with other CoHo books. Maybe it was the way the duel timelines were set up, but I was left feeling like nothing really happened, if that makes sense. That being said, I can appreciate the sensitive topics that were addressed.

like every CoHo book, this one was a rollercoaster. it interchanges between then and now which ive found it keeps me glued to the book in a way i cannot put it down. the main characters get to know each other during a weird situation which i liked cause it really gave depth to their characters. most of the book was quite painful to read since the main character goes through a difficult situation and you kind of feel pity for her. i would vote it 5 stars if it wasnt for the way it played out between the main characters. one of them acted in a wat that really put me off so thats that.

It's been a long time since I stayed up way too late to finish a book, but I couldn't put this one down.
I adored the people in this book, I loved how it all played out.
I appreciated how the ending worked out, it wasn't typical but it was good.
