Sometimes reading about careful, considerate, selfless love is just the best.

Třetí díl plynule navazuje na knihy předchozí a i on si drží úroveň danou předchozími díly.

Red-haired Sophia Gifford has never been a great beauty, and now, with her father's fortune fading away and her third London season unsuccessful, it seems that she will have trouble securing a husband. When her sister Prudence, the new Lady Knave, decides to throw a house party, Sophia is surprised to find that Hugh Quinton is one of the guests. A childhood friend and one of the few people to really understand her, Hugh was the son of her father's solicitor--before her father dismissed the man and ruined his reputation.

In the intervening years, Hugh has developed quite the reputation for business and is able to offer sound advice on how to save the Giffords' failing estate. He seems interested in far more things than business where his old friend Sophie is concerned, however, and after a week of walks in the garden, horse rides, and careful confidences, Sophia begins to wonder how she can keep her heart intact. Is it possible that Hugh could have an interest in her. And even if he did, is Sophia's family willing to let her throw away her social standing to become the wife of a solicitor?

This book is an excellent follow-up to the first book in the Serendipity series. Lord Knave, who was originally Sophia's intended before he met her younger sister Prudence, is in on the scheme to see his sister-in-law happily settled, seeking out Hugh in London and explaining the situation. Hugh is an excellent hero from the lower classes, a self-made man who feels no inferiority about his station. When one of the neighboring gentry shows interest in Sophia, Hugh gallantly offers to goad him into proposing by paying Sophia attention himself. Embarrassed, Sophia insists that he refrain, afraid of what feelings he will stir up. In the end, it becomes clear that a true gentleman would never ask a lady to give up the life to which she is accustomed, and in the end, it must be the lady who takes that step for herself. This charming story has memorable characters, and although it can stand alone, it's probably best read in sequence with the rest of the series.

Sophie didn't have a great lot in life. She's practically on the shelf, with her younger sister married, and was really scraping the bottom of the barrel in the husband search. Her parents were in favor of an intolerable aristocrat and Sophie prefered, albeit mildly, a somewhat stodgy gentleman of no title. Sophie's penchant for disliking bonnets not only gives her freckles and sunburns, but shows she's likely to break with convention to be happy. Enter Hugh Quinton, a man of trade and socially beneath her family, and a house party hosted my her meddling younger sister and an enjoyable read commenced. Sophie and Hugh were both likeable characters and the country setting was charming.

Loved this third book in the Serendipity series! I love romances that have a sweet and smart heroine who is loved by someone who respects her abilities and talents. Sophie is the eldest daughter who has had three failed seasons and is about to give up hope of finding real love. She is about reading to possibly marry Mr. Faucett, a nice man who is kind and steady. However, she has never forgotten her friend Hugh from her childhood who was taken from her life by her father. Hugh has never forgotten Sophie either, and when her brother-in-law shows up in his office asking him for help with his in-laws finances, Hugh agrees to put aside his anger at Sophie’s family in order to help Sophie. Can Sophie and Hugh overcome their differences in order to recognize true love, or will Sophie’s station in life prevent them from HEA?

Rachael Anderson’s characters have humor, warmth, and depth and are fun to read about. This book can easily be finished in a day and was hard to put down. It can be read as a stand alone, but it is better read as part of the series because it is much more enjoyable to see characters from previous books and their continuing stories along with Sophie’s. Highly recommend this series! Look forward to reading more by this author.

Book #3 in this series. This book is a light and sweet story above Sophia (Prudence’s sister from book #1) and Hugh, her childhood friend.

Strong female character-Loved that! It's always fun to be back in a series with familiar characters. Plenty of twists and turns along the way to love. Nothing super surprising, but super satisfying all the same.

This was so good. I've been waiting for this story since book 1 and it was definitely worth the wait.
