Dragon Fire Academy is a spin-off from Rachel Jonas' The Lost Royal Series, but you don't need to have read that series to enjoy this book.
Get ready to follow Noelle's journey as she strives to be accepted at Dragon Fire Academy. She's the daughter of the Queen, and so she's worried that people will judge her based on her family that on her own merit. It's important to her to earn this so she works her butt off. She isn't expecting special treatment so when she gets to the island and learns that she's been assigned four gorgeous mentors, she isn't thrilled. But hey! Neither are the guys. Kai, Paulo, Rayen, and Ori are the newest Hive on the island, but they are also the strongest. They take their job seriously and Ori, as the leader, thinks that Noelle is just a spoiled princess and a distraction. There is something dangerous on the island, and they need to focus on that. But could Noelle be what it is that they themselves need in order to be stronger? The evil that lurks knows of the specialness that is Noelle...the question is...can they keep her safe?
This book is hands-down...AWESOME! The minute I started reading this book I didn't want to put it down. The characters are engaging and truly gripping. I love that Noelle isn't full of attitude and confrontational. I was honestly concerned that at some point and time in this story that she'd pull the "princess" card and really go at it with people. Thankfully, that is not the case. This book is really thrilling when you get down to it. You get a taste of what lies on the island, the thing that hides in the shadows. I am curious as to how exactly the people become infected with it. I really hope that the author gives us a scene of when someone is attacked by it itself. The variety of characters is great! I love Noelle's interactions with Toni so much! I hope that they continue to be good friends, but I sense a twist in her fate in the future.
There is honestly nothing that I don't like about this book. Everything is so well done! The author is feeding my suspicions concerning certain characters, hooking me in with each page turn, and leaving me wanting more. I will say that I wish that Noelle has truly shifted in this story, but I love how it brings so many together.
I am rating this book 5 out of 5 stars. I cannot wait for the next book in this series! For those who don't like cliffhangers...sorry, but this book has an insane one! But I love it! While I'm waiting on book two, I'm going to be grabbing The Lost Royals Saga and devouring that because if it connects to this series...it has to be awesome!

There were a lot of good ideas: dragons, shapeshifters, and an island with mystery. Unfortunately not for me... I don't understand the main character and I don't feel connected to her story. There is a little world-building and not a lot of character building. We have a school but I don't actually see her learning something. There is love somewhere but I don't feel nor see it.
I feel like this is some kind of fanfiction and not an actual book. And this is not the first book of the author, so I am a little bit disappointed.
It's a no no for me.

Wow!

Is it possible to love the spinoff even more than the original story? Well I did! Love getting to see what happens with Evangeline and Liam’s daughter Noelle. I really enjoyed how this face paced series has begun.

I was thrown in the beginning because Noelle was thinking about how when she was little she loved tracing her father’s tattoos. In the Lost Royal Saga Liam lost all of his tattoos when he regained his dragon. Nothing was mentioned about having them done again. For my piece of mind I decided in the 19 years since Noelle was born he had them redone. I did find it a little unusual with how protective Liam is - that they did not check in on her after she left. Guess this is where I need to let go of the Lost Royals Saga and just enjoy the Dragon Fire Academy.

Interesting...

I enjoyed this story - although it was frustrating at times. Good writing sucks you in and this definitely did that. I kept wanting to jump ahead but I'm glad I didn't - made the ending that much better. I can't wait to see what happens next!

Not your typical romance and yet typical at the same time. A reverse harem, Noelle is attending school when she is 'protected' by 4 guardians. She is approaching her 20th birthday and worried about shifting, worried about destroying the island she is currently attending academy at.

I liked this book because the female isn't the typical princess. She fights for what she wants and she is sassy. I felt my heart race more than once reading this book and once it had me in its clutches I couldn't put it down! I can honestly say that this book lead me to purchase the next two and I've never done that before.

Things that are typical about this romance is that the males fight their base urges. Not wanting to believe that Noelle could be their Queen. Like most romances, they don't just fall into bed together, instead they spend most of the book fighting what we the reader already know is chemistry.

All in all I say 5 out of 5 for paranormal romance. It's a YA read, so it is a quick read and really takes you through all the emotions. Can't wait to get started on the next two!
