The two novellas in the Seven Wonders Journals collection were both nice continuations of two stories that aren't fully explained or understood in the Seven Wonders world. So it was fun to go back in time and live through legends, and past events that lead to what happens in the full length books of the series.

Starting off with "The Select", I really loved the idea of learning about Burt Wenders and his father. And how they came to know about the G7W gene. Because of the length of the story I found it didn't make much sense, because I felt there wasn't an overall point to the story that was told. I thought these were really good, though a bit short because they are segments of a story written into a journal.

I really liked the writing style. I had tried reading The Colossus Rises first, but the style of writing felt a little off and I had a strong dislike the for main character.

Will read the other Journals books as I can find them
