Super cute. Perfect book for a pool side read or a snowy afternoon diversion. I loved the relationship between Becky and Logan. It was so sweet and loving, despite being in a "temporary" marriage. The ending was sweet and romantic. I hope Jennifer Apodaca writes more in this series!

The author's take on a story that's been done a lot was enjoyable, but it didn't wow me. There was definitely some excitement and the writing was good, I just wasn't blown away by it. Hopefully we will see more from this series and get to revisit Becky and Logan in the future.

This was a really fun and incredibly exciting romantic suspense novel. While it is number two in a series, it does very well as a stand alone, so don't let the fact that you haven't read book one stop you.

Becky was an interesting combination for a character. As a former beauty queen she knows all the tricks - how to walk, how to smile, how to make her hair do that really cool blowing in the wind thing (even when there isn't wind) - and it drives Logan crazy. But what drives him crazier is her attitude. She's a tough cookie that will do anything to protect the very little family she has left, her baby. When an ex threatens her she finds herself thrown in with Logan in a very unusual way, but it may just work out well for both of them.

Logan has a strange past as well, and it wraps up with a contract saying he has to be married by the time he's 30 to inherit the land his father promised him. That's a problem until Becky shows up and a plan begins to form in his mind. She needs protection, he needs a wife - perfect - until they start to fall for each other (it is a romance after all).

What I liked best was that neither of them fell too hard or too fast. They both held back and they did get to know each other a little before diving into a more serious "real" relationship. I also enjoyed Becky's little girl - she's a doll and I can just see her come to life in every scene.

I have been waiting for the next book in the "Once A Marine Series" for a while and oh so worth the wait! Couldn't put it down. It had me intrigued the entire time! Jennifer does a fantastic job of writing characters you are not only going to fall in love with but root for them! This is a great series that I highly recommend!

Logan is oh so yummy and to die for! He is just enough Alpha Male without coming across as an ass! LOL He fought for his country and now as a continues to protect and serve. He suffers from PTSD but works through it, acknowledges that he has it and wants to help other soldiers as well. This makes me love him even more!

Becky is a single mother who would do anything to keep her daughter safe! She has put her dreams on hold to raise her daughter as any good mother would do! Unfortunately, she has had a string of bad luck up until meeting Logan.

The two make a great couple! While the time they spend together is short, they do get to know each other and do fall into that "we're friends" mode but you know there's more. Each take the time to learn one another and find out whats important.

Overall a great and quick read! Looking forward to reading more in the series.

Quick summary
Becky Holmes is struggling to make ends meet for her and her 3-month old daughter, Sophie, but she's pulling it off. That is until her abusive ex-boyfriend (and the baby's father) gets an early release from prison and threatens her safety and plans to get custody of the child he doesn't even want. Her boss provides her a temporary place to stay in her cousin's cabin. See, Logan Knight is supposed to be out of town for awhile but, as luck will have it, returns that same night.

The issues
Logan is a former Marine suffering from PTSD as a result of his last mission in Afghanistan. He's working for a private security firm, Once a Marine, and is looking to create a refuge on his portion of the family's Texas ranch for other veterans who are suffering from the same syndrome. Unfortunately, his father made him sign an agreement years ago that returns the land to him if Logan isn't married by age 30, which will be in the next three months. He needs a temporary wife and Becky needs a temporary husband to maintain custody and have a safe place to live.

What I liked
In spite of her circumstances, Becky was resourceful, never giving in nor looking for a handout. She and Logan fit well, not just because of the outside demands bringing them together. While the story tips more on the romance scale, it still had enough suspense to fit the genre, especially with the threat always being in the background. I loved their romance and how Logan's PTSD issues were portrayed, nothing over the top but a realistic view of how debilitating the syndrome can be. He's an honorable man, trying to do the right thing in spite of his issues.

The bottom line
I enjoyed the story for its likable characters, sweet romance and underlying suspense. Though it's part of a series, it really can be read as a standalone as the characters from the previous story don't have substantive roles in this one.

I DNF’d this one when extremely busy at work. I can’t remember why but the passages I highlighted suggest to me it was a combination of writing that made me go blergh “ What? No!” and alpha overdose. Since I can't remember much except a general dislike, I'm not rating.

Really? After all that... it's all okay? Nahhh. People are way too forgiving for my palate. And what about Kendra? No repercussions there? Sucks.

this book was plesent read but it no means is something that had a strong plot in its bones. I felt it didn't shift well in the dramatic moments when our main girl was coping with a crazy ex and her new man. it really was just about they making moves on each other and trying to figure out thier own minds. But it was a quick and easy read for an afternoon.
