I loved the way this book was broken down, each section made sense in order and seamlessly transitioned into the next. There was a lot of great information on how being in nature in different “doses” can affect your mental and physical health.

I really liked some aspects of it and learned a lot. It was super interesting to hear about all the programmes and studies that are taking place to try and measure the impact of nature on the human brain.
It was a bit long though and therefore got a little repetitive. Nevertheless, interesting read.

I enjoyed listening to this book. It certainly motivated me to spend more time outside. That said, I’m not sure we ever really got an answer to the question: “Why does spending time in nature make us feel better?” We know that it does, but we still don’t know exactly why. 🤷🏻‍♀️
A pleasant read overall, though I’d like to defend DC for being an incredibly nature-heavy city—there’s a national park that runs right through it!

This book had some great ideas, I just didn't find it very readable. But my favorite take away was the concept of the nature pyramid-kind of like the food pyramid where:
At the base - Interactions with nearby nature that help us destress...birds, trees, pets...(daily)
Moving up - Outings to parks/places that the sounds/hassles of the city recede...(at least 1 hour/week)
Moving up - Places that take a little more effort to get to, a forest/natural area...(at least 1 day/month)
Then at the pinnacle, the rare but essential dose of wilderness...(1-2x/ year a multi-day trip)

And to remember that there are particular times when a wilderness experience is most helpful, such as during identity forming years of youth or following grief or trauma.
