Seb and the Copper Cat are quite the duo. They are muscle for hire, and have taken on a job to venture into the Citadel. The Lord who hired them has his secrets, ones that become dangerous to them all when they awaken the sleeping god.

This fantasy read was full of action. The beginning of the story began as the trio enter the Citadel and it was a bit confusing following who the characters were and what their goals were with so much going on. But once they get out of there, release the god and her army on the world, the story smooths out and the other plot points come into play.

These adventurers surprised me. The start was a bit iffy but after I was a quarter the way in, I was hooked and had to keep reading to see what would happen to Seb and his 'daughters', our fiery red-head with the wicked blades, and our secretive Lord. I'm looking forward to checking out the next book!

This is an earlier series from Ms. Williams, who wrote my favorite fantasy of late, The Winnowing Flame series. It has much of the promise of that later series and hits some of the same beats. It's a thoroughly entertaining romp that would make a fun D&D campaign.
Wydrin and Sir Sebastian hire out as sellswords to Lord Aaron Frith, who wants to find the magic hidden beneath the Citadel to take revenge against those who murdered his family. They find much more than they bargained for when they free an ancient evil.
This is an entertaining read and a great start to this series. I'll definitely be continuing through the books.

So I really liked the start of this book.
It was fast paced, funny and interesting.
And then it died down.

The story just kept dragging on and on and on.
And I did like it.
It was fun, and as said, interesting. It was a whole new world to exsplore.
But it felt like the author pulled the story as far as it could go, and then a bit to far.
At the end I wasn't all that interested in the klimax, 'cause there were so many storylines to finish up besides the main one.

I was a bit uncertan of what to give the book, thought. 2.5/5 or 3/5
It endet up as a 2.5/5
I'm hoping the author will ''calm down'' to her next books, seeing how this was a debute novel
