The last installment for Detective Perez. It was a bit of a slow burn and felt rushed at the end. Though I didn't have a clue as to "whodunnit" at all. Still potential for more from Jimmy Perez

When you're missing Shetland Wool Week and want to be transported, this seemed like a good option. Overall though this seemed a much more traditional whodunnit with the big reveal at the end based on information that hasn't been part of the narrative thus far, than I remember from some of the earlier books. I associate this with the Agatha Christie stories of my adolescence, and I'm not sure if Jimmy Perez is more Miss Marple or Poirot, although despite being the last Shetland, it felt that Jimmy was pretty much phased out during the novel anyway... There were some interesting ideas in this one but they, alongside the central relationship, all seemed to get quite a superficial treatment.
All this said it proved to be a page turned that I got through in a week, but not one that will stay with me much longer than that either.
