This book was way too damn long. I definitely enjoyed some of the extra info that you don’t see in the movies and I did enjoy it but it could have been like 200 pages shorter than it was

This book put me in an emotional wreck.
too much emotions, i was reading 4 lines at a time trying to finish it and after i did i felt so destroyed.

Звичайно ця книга поступається своїй попередниці з її динамічністю і напруженістю та чимось щасливим і життєрадісним. Ця ж була тягуча, дуже мало епічних бентежних подій відбувалось до кульмінації вкінці.
Через Долорес Амбридж, Гаррі вперше хотів би опинитися на Різдво деінде, або лиш не в Гоґвортсі. І, мені здається, читачам теж хотілося припинити читати про злочини верховного інквізитора, натомість повернутися до перших добрих і наївних частин. Однак не можу сказати, що тут не було чогось феєричного на уроках та перервах, тому що школа ще мала близнюків Візлі!
Щодо персонажів: Гаррі тут дуже багато нервує, істерить, дратується, і це нормально. Шкода, що у фільмах не показали такий його емоційний стан. Він не прописаний тут як типовий головний герой, що не має страху і приймає й розуміє всі події по клацанню пальців, ні, тут він звичайний хлопець, який має право злитися, помилятися і дратуватися і це прекрасно. Герміона - не зраджує собі, вона генійка. Рон просто крутий, я ніколи не применшую його ролі в цій історії. Найкрутіше розкрилися в цій частині Невіл та Джинні, без них, думаю, друзі не змогли б здійснити задумане. І ще про персонажів: авторка дуже гарно прописує другорядних героїв, кожен з них індивідуальний, вони не зливаються в масу, що постійно крутиться навколо основних подій.
Ну і як бонус в цій історії ми зустрічаємося з молодими Муні, Гультяєм та Золоторогом

Fantastic writing as all others in the series. I’m sure this one is setting more grounds for the last two books, but this one didn’t feel like it had a lot happen until the last 10% and that’s crazy because it’s over 800 pages. A bit frustrated with Harry in this one, but overall a good story.

Gone is the at least outwardly cheerful world of the first, second, third, and fourth books. In this one, the government is blatantly corrupt, the adults are all distant, preoccupied, and deliberately hiding information from you, everyone seems to hate you, no one seems to care about your problems, and you are alone.
Negatives: Do we need so many irrelevant details and subplots that only serve to pad the pages? Remember how all the little details complemented the plot instead of overwhelming it?
Umbridge and Fudge are supposed to be annoying, but their cruelty or stupidity makes parts of the book feel more like a chore than anything.
Sirus Black is utterly wasted in this book; he is essentially left being imprisoned in a house he hates and then dies.
Positives: I like how it explores the psychological impact of Harry having witnessed Cedric's murder, with him breaking down at the end because of the people he lost. The book also adds more layers and grayness to Dumbledore and Snape's characters. The scenes outside of Hogwarts, like being in the hospital with Neville, learning about Sirus's and some of the Order's past, and the Battle at the Department of Mysteries, are the high points of this book.
