This is an interesting book.

I was more interested in Nina's story than in Oli's. The fact that some characters are asexual completely passed me over-I learned that from other reviewers. I just thought it was a friendship, family, and adventure story more than anything else. I think this book is truly for all ages. Kids ages 9 or 10+ may enjoy it as would adults.

I liked that it gave me a window into another culture and world.

It is a slow-paced book, except for the dramatic ending-perhaps last 70ish pages. I didn't want to put it down then!

I do agree that some parts were wrapped up a little too neatly and I'm a little disappointed not to have learned more about the creature in the well. What was that creature?

Thank you, Darcie Little Badger, for a unique and good story.

This was a nice cozy little adventure. I actually love the slow character building to start and then kicking up the adventure towards the end. All of the characters are very well written, and I really enjoy some casual queer representation. One thing I didn't really love was the influencer storyline. I didn't find it altogether necessary, but maybe it's just because I'm double the age of these characters.

Read as part of a Big Library Read, and I’m so glad this was suggested to me, as I would never have picked it up otherwise.

I read some excellent stories this year, but this was the highlight of them all for me. I found myself smiling (and cackling) at this easy story. I never wanted it to end. Also, find yourself friends who would lasso a tornado for you.

weaves the tales of two characters together across worlds and shows the impacts of colonialism, climate change, and cults without being too heavy handed

story had a bit of wonky pacing at the beginning, but definitely picked up and evened out towards the middle

Reading about Nina’s and Oli’s adventure was a great pick to finish off the month! 💗✨👌🏽

The story is told from two different perspectives and the author did an awesome in making the switching very fluid. It really helped buildup the anticipation of when the characters and stories finally converge🤌🏼

I do wish the story elaborated more on Nina’s queer identity, one small comment about it didn’t seem enough for me 🤷🏽‍♀️

Overall, their adventure did a great job in bringing to the forefront the issues of climate change and its consequences.

Definitely recommend ✨
