Unsteady is gorgeous, a book filled with characters with such depth and such heart that I can’t help but feel warm and fuzzy as I read about them. Sadie and Rhys are two broken humans, who come together to find healing and love and trust. Family is a huge part of this tale, and they create it together beautifully.

There are lots of little plot points that I’m hoping will be explored further in later books, as I have a lot of unanswered questions about these characters, particularly Bennett, Coach Kelley, Ro and Toren.  Can’t wait to see how their stories (hopefully) progress in the future. I also would have liked some of Sadie’s storylines to be fleshed out more, particularly around her custody case. We got very little information about how it came about, how it ended, and what happened to her father so I’d be very intrigued to get more information about that.

I was genuinely so lost for about 60% of this book that I thought it might’ve had a sequel I had missed. There were so many things discussed with so little elaboration that I almost gave up. But, I stuck with it and had a pretty good time overall.
It’s both sickly sweet and steamy hot, which I am a sucker for. Sadie and Rhys are pretty great together. I liked how their relationship grew, it ended up becoming very healthy and wholesome. Things started out very “I can fix him” but surprisingly shifted to a “he can fix himself” plot line and I really appreciated that.
I think anytime you have a lot of trauma and darkness in a book, you need to level it out. This book was very pro therapy and I really appreciated that, considering the intensity of the conflict. I was a little worried how it would be handled in the beginning but it developed nicely throughout the story.
I was honestly surprised how much I love Liam and Oliver. They felt very fleshed out and the amount of love and support they got was so heartwarming and reassuring. When dealing with such heavy subject matter, especially with children, it’s very easy to do it distastefully. But I will give props to the author- clearly she knows her shit when it comes to trauma.
I might not have know where the ride was going but I enjoyed myself along the way!

I have to be honest, the first few chapters of this book got me thinking: "Ok where the heck is this thing going?"

I'll tell you where it went (or what it did).

It took me on a heartbreakingly romantic ride that made me question why I haven't met my 6'3 hot hockey captain who loves me and my f-ed life unconditionally, and is more than willing to fight his inner demons by go to therapy for himself and our relationship because he wants to feel worthy of me.

So thank you, Peyton Corinne for making me realize what it truly means to be loved and that no man in my life will ever live up to the Rhys Maximillian Koteskiy standard in just 360 pages.

And if you're a reader (or better yet, a hockey romance enthusiast) and you're contemplating on picking this book up, DO IT. I'M TELLING YOU RIGHT NOW. DO. IT. And I mean that in the most loving, most gentle way possible. 😄

This book had me in a CHOKEHOLD
I liked the short chapters and switched perspectives between each chapter.
It was hard not to connect with Rhys and Sadie because there was so much to them. Their stories both equally drawing me further and further into the story.
I didn't like how many obstacles it took, I knew it would be a lot but it felt like every page I turned I was happy and then sad and it kept going on and on and it was a little overwhelming.
Overall I really liked this book, but I definitely need a book about Bennett :)
