Ingrid, a Norwegian Tree Nymph, moves on (literally) from her tragic past to open a dairy farm and creamery in Mystic Bayou. She and League mathematician Rob strike up a budding romance during the course of the novella.

It's sweet, gently funny, and very short.

Audible Originals free choice for June 2019.

Themes: paranormal, tragic loss, tree nymph, ice cream!

Oh this was cute. And I'm actually kind of glad I didn't listen to the novellas in the order they slot into the main volumes of the series chronologically because it's a very different flow to the storytelling.

Ingrid's story is very Maleficent and I love the way Rob actively pursues her without being overbearing or creepy. He makes big gestures that are genuinely thoughtful and steps back whenever Ingrid becomes skittish and if that isn't just the definition of a fictional man written by a female author we all know and love, I don't know what is.

It was nice to fill in some side character back story gaps as well but it's not essential reading for the main, overarching plot of the Mystic Bayou series.

Playful and upbeat. A cute and sweet romance with some great Norther European vibes and fun supernatural characters. I kinda loved this one.

My only gripe is that it was way too short. I would have really enjoyed seeing the book more developed and fleshed out. But still, <3.

I was skeptical going into this book but as it was free on the audible plus catalog, I thought I should give it a go. Honestly, I'm neither disappointed nor pleased with it. It has a fantastic premise - a tree nymph who just wants to make ice cream finds love in a strange, new town. Basically an urban fantasy with an accent on romance and finding love after a heart break. If this book were longer it would have probably been amazing. The creatures and the world building had so much potential. But alas, it was too short. Way too short. It achieved nothing. A wasted potential.
But if you are looking for a short clean romance audiobook you might enjoy it.
