This was a solidly okay cryptid horror story. Unfortunately, I found the characters a bit annoying going into the story, so I didn't really care that much about them, which is important when it's a horror and the basic premise of the story is that the characters are in danger and need to try to survive. I also didn't really feel like there was a major change in the characters between the beginning and the end; they go out into the world, have a traumatic experience, and then come back scarred but still relatively similar people. Additionally, we didn't get to learn a lot about the cryptid in question, so the lack of character arc wasn't even made up for with an interesting premise. The whole thing felt a bit like a stock horror story, so while nothing particularly stood out to me as bad about it, it wasn't very memorable, either.

it wasn’t terrible but I was expecting more lore on bigfoot. it wasn’t scary by any means but it did keep me entertained.

Audible free, it was okay, would not want to pay for it, interesting that this author can write so many different types of books. I wonder how hard it is to write something like this

A group of friends go out into the woods to try and see if they can find the "Devil of Black Creek" -- you know, go out into the woods and confront Bigfoot. I love stories and movies about Bigfoot because let's be honest, what is not to love about a big primate out there who is hidden and is going to appear to randomly kill some young idiots traipsing through the woods? Ugh! I loved this.

I'm a big fan of Victor Methos' legal thrillers and so when I saw this, I thought 'can he do this?' and the answer is YES.
