This book took absolutely no prisoners. It was like riding a roller coaster through the Event Horizon where Gallagher is doing a show. Hold those tarps up high ladies and gentleman. You are getting sprayed with something!
Bloody good fun surrounding teenage angst and first love. If you loved the movie Dead Alive (aka BrainDead), then this will be right up your alley. I recommend reading the trigger warnings and proceeding accordingly if that movie was not really your cup of tea.

Gruesome as all hell. Uncle Carl — as he’s supposedly called — did not pull any punches with this one. Unfortunately, not every punch landed. I was deeply invested in the LGBT and coming-of-age aspects of the story, and also the inspiration (I assume) from Carrie and The Dead Zone, but all of this seemed one-dimensional in the end, mostly because of some writing decisions that took away from what could’ve been a nice balance of horrifying splatter-punk and a somewhat endearing tale of high schoolers facing hardships commonly found in adolescence. as well as those faced by those who love who they choose to love. overall, some pretty crazy, gory scenes and a fast-paced splatter-punk novel that’ll probably have you reaching for a trash-bin at one point or another.

I knew going into this book that it was graphic. I don't necessarily mind gore. But it felt too gratuitous, even knowing that. This just solidified that I do not like revenge stories.

If you’re in the mood for some splatterpunk, extreme-horror, goodness, then Psychic Teen Bloodbath is the story for you.
It can be summed up very well with this one quote from the introduction; ”filled to the brim with gore, intestinal drippings, feces, splattered flesh, sprayed guts, shattered heads... oh, and one of the sweetest love stories I think I've encountered in the annals of extreme horror.”
Carl John Lee’s horror stories read like movies, his work feels identical to a cinematic experience because he was a horror movie screenwriter and his books are based on old scripts that never got filmed. He’s definitely an indie horror author to look out for. Quite the genius of the genre who has flown under the radar!
Psychic Teen Bloodbath is part-gory revenge horror, part-queer love story.
Susan and Charlie are at their high school dance, but are being tormented by horrible bully Greta and her gang of cronies. This is set in the 70s and these bullies’ disgusting homophobia is rampant. Greta is targeting Susan extra hard with the bullying that particular night because both girls turned up to the dance wearing the same dress. Then a tragic “accident” befalls Susan. Charlie is convinced it was no accident and Greta & co are to blame. With Susan not longer at school, Charlie feels left alone with the bullies until she starts to get close to a new girl, Lynette.
Susan has been left in a coma since that night. Eleven months on, she cannot speak or move. Her eyes are fixed open, she cannot close them. Deep inside, she has gone mad, locked inside of her own body. And she wants revenge. But how will she be able to exact revenge?
