I always saw this book sitting in my school library, never thought to pick it up and read it until I saw a drama student perform a monologue based off it.
I picked it up, read it and fell in love with it straight away.
Such a good read, very tongue in cheek.
Kathy Lette is a fantastic author and this book is gush-worthy xD

Very short summary: Jazz’s (a rich stay at home mum) husband dies, of unnatural causes, while on holiday in Australia. Jazz gets suspected by the police almost immediately. Her two best friends , Cassie (a not so rich, teacher and mum) and Hannah (a childless artist), are trying to get her out, by proving it wasn’t Jazz who caused her husband’s death. What follows is a hilarious take on events. The book is written for ladies that are a little older than me, but it’s hilarious nonetheless. Personally I really, really despise reading/hearing/seeing anything with sex in it. Just freaks me out, but this book is so funny, I bravely kept reading it. I’ve read this book three times. At least. Like I said, the book is a light read, a really great holiday book, and I fully recommend you reading this book, if murdering your partner is something that gets on your mind occasionally.

What is this book really but a rant about husbands, marriage, horrible bosses and back-stabbing best friends? Other than being way too exaggerated, completely unbelievable and incredibly melodramatic, it's also a horrible story. We all know that in real life Cassie, Jazz and Hannah would never be friends and their husbands wouldn't all turn out to be so heartless, or so conveniently discovered in the same year. Everything fell into place too perfectly and with way more drama than anyone really experiences as a middle-aged mother of any amount of children. My mother read it and hated it and I definitely recommend that you do not waste your time with this tree-killer.

Incredibly depressing! The dialogues and commentary are funny and the humor is a mix of the genuinely funny and the seriously inane BUT the plot falls to pieces within the first couple of chapters. I would love for this book to be re-written by someone who could maybe flesh out the characters and make them wholesome instead of keeping them in their present caricaturish/ stereotyped depictions.
I wouldn't recommend it - there's much better 'Chic-lit' available and this one is treekiller...

It started out really funny - the puns and sarcastic humour had me laughing out loud. But as the story progressed the puns and jokes just seemed out of place. Jazz was unrealistically OTT, and Hannah and Bianca were stereotypes more than real women, but I found enough in the book to keep me entertained. It was a light, quick read with funny moments (some of them very funny!), but not a fantastic book, IMHO.

Funny one liners, but not ultimately gripping enough to finish.

This book was like Gossip Girl for 40 year old married women. Please tell me life's not actually like that. But omg the writing. Every second sentence was some hilarious sexual innuendo or pun and it was all too much.

The perfect book for time pass reading. It's fun, but it's also predictable.

Why did I buy the book: I went to a "lock the box sale'' where I greedily stuffed as many books available in the carton and this one fitted and the hilarious title did help to pick it up.
Why did I read the book: I needed to read a book 'with pink color cover' for my Pop Sugar Challenge
Review of the book: Why did I read the book? :(
First of all the title and the extract on the back cover is very misleading. I didn't find the book to be either funny or witty. I never expected any literary value from this book but it doesn't even come under a chick-lit. Another sad part is that the 250plus pages book on three female friends can't even pass the Bechdel test as there is hardly any conversation between the women which doesn't include sleeping with men.
The book is full of one-liners, a few of which can be copied down and used when you are high on marijuana and in the company of teenagers (don't ever use them when you are with your co-workers or friends as they might book an appointment with a psychiatrist for you or much worse book a bed in the asylum.) The story is also boring and the characters very cliched. Overall a book you can happily skip. Two stars for the way the author ended the book in a sort of happy note giving a hope to all the women that if they can think innovatively they can actually murder their husband and get away with it.
