This book was everything from grief, to acceptance, to love, to sacrifice. This book allowed to be introspective about life and death, and is changing the way I think about them. From my childhood, I was taught that death was heaven or hell, and it was final, (dead as a doorknob they say). This book allowed me to think bigger than that. Maybe there are souls staying on Earth to figure out whatever they need to.
Regardless, this book is probably my all time favorite so far and I would recommend it to anyone and everyone.
P.S. bring the tissues :)

I read this last October, but listened to it this time. It’s well worth the read and the listen.

I felt this book could have been 50-100 pages shorter. The first ~170 pages felt like we were going around in circles a while. The second half more than made up for it.
During the first half, I felt most of the characters spoke as if they were sassy teenage girls. I don’t think a middle aged business man would speak as he did for most of the book. This critique certainly got better as the characters moved on.
The love story was a bit meh. I liked the ending of it but felt Wallace could’ve just made friends and the ending could have been the same. I felt he needed friends more than he needed a partner. I suppose he got both in the end.

Wallace dies, becomes a good person in the span of like a month, falls in love, and is brought back to life for no good reason. He should have had to move on. This book felt a little too forced-quirky, and I felt like it could have done more with the premise. Two stars for Nelson and Apollo.
