TALK ABOUT ENDING WITH A BANG!! I need the next book NOW. Seriously SECRETS OF THE DEMON was beyond fantastic, I was glued to the pages every chance I had to read. Kara is hilarious, I love her snarky comments and replies, I busted out laughing quite a few times. Rhyzkahl doesn't make as many appearances in SECRETS OF A DEMON but when he does he has me seeing a totally different side of him. The tension between Kara and Ryan continues to be unbearable they seriously need to kiss each other already. I'm honestly not sure which guy I would rather see Kara end up with but im loving the ride getting there. I really enjoyed all the Investigating/detective/forensic stuff in the book, It really kept me interested on a different level than other Urban Fantasy books. You are going to get so many new details and read so much new stuff your head will be spinning (in a really good way). I didn't guess the ending one bit, It was a mystery to me the entire time I was reading, and I was completely shocked with the last few paragraphs at the end OMG SERIOUSLY?? WTH?? Dying here!! Also I loved the style change for the cover. I have no clue when the next installment of Kara's life is coming out but I am begging Diana to make it soon :)

Kara, I think you might be fast becoming my favourite UF heroine whose surname isn't Daniels. As with the first two books, this entry featured an engaging crime plot, an expanding picture of the world and mythology and most importantly, bucketloads of character development for the leads and the supporting cast.

And what an insanely satisfying ending with a side serving of cliff hanger! It's always a good sign when you're reading a series and at the end of one volume, your first instinct is to locate the next, and that was exactly how I felt when I reached the breathtaking conclusion of Secrets of the Demon. I suspect book 4 is going to be a doozy.

the worst police officer in louisiana continues her losing streak. this book was plodding, awkward, and the mystery was just boring. the main plot continues to advance at a glacial pace. i honestly don't know why i am still reading this series.

I am really beginning to become attached to the characters and the plot line of this series. I am definitely glad that I stuck with it!

In this third installment, we find out a lot of important details about the main characters, who is human and who isn't, which totally changes the rules of the game. Very cool!

I so wish that I could continue with the series right now but unfortunately I live in such a backwards state that not one of the libraries in the entire state (yes, you read that correctly) has them available. And I'm on a very long wait list to get them from PBS. I suppose I shall simply have to be really, really patient until then ;).

These books get better with each one. I really love the characters she's put together. We learn a little more about them with every book and they just get more interesting. Good plots....just good all around story telling.

4 1/2 stars. I'm very excited to have discovered Diana Rowland's Kara Gillian novels. Really dig Kara and the tension between her and the two leading men in her life. Very well-written series. Can't wait to start the next!

Plot was great, I love that we're learning more about the Demon Realm and the politics of that world. The whole will-they-won't-they between
Spoiler Ryan and Kara
has the potential to get old if it keeps moving at this pace, but I like that it's not obvious who the main romantic interest will be.

This was a great story, though I am now waiting on pins and needles for the next book. Very fast paced and unpredictable plot. I will say that this books leaves you with more questions than answers about the demonic world.

Secrets of the Demon is book three in the Kara Gillian series. I love the idea behind this series, but seem to have a few issues with the execution. Our leading lady, Kara Gillian is a police detective that is able to summon demons. While pretty new to the homicide department, she's assigned the big cases and seems to figure it out with the help of demons and friends just in the knick of time.

We start off the book with Kara Gillian and the FBI team she's working with on arcane cases. They're undercover due to threats of a demon attacking the lead singer in a band. They didn't really expect anything to happen but when Kara feels the arcane power blow through the club, she knows she has to act quickly. While they were able to save the singer, the being that attacked her got away. And when mysterious deaths start piling up, all signs point towards the malevolent being that got away. Kara and the gang have to figure out who is causing the murders before they all wind up dead.

I've had a bit of mixed feelings on the series so far and am wondering if I should continue at this point. Both this book and book one were only okay reads for me while book two was really good. I think I'll try one more and decide if I should stop or not. While I like Kara's character, I find it slightly grating while she's interacting with her police department. Another thing I'm kind of dreading in later books is that we're leading up to a love triangle. It's between the FBI agent friend and the Demon Lord, I'm not sure who to root for especially with the information that got dropped in this installment. All in all, I'm feeling slightly shaken on the series and will probably check if the library has the next installment.
