Thought this was such a cute, fun read. I have never heard of the author before, but it came up on iBooks when I was trying to find a Halloween-y audio book to listen to while I walked. It was not what I was expected, but I really enjoyed it and will try the author’s other two books. I loved the characters. Especially Tuesday, but there weren’t any that I was supposed to like and didn’t wholeheartedly! The plot was a bit stretched here and there, but not too badly. And it was unique and fun enough that I didn’t mind too much. (Also, being an audio book, I may have gotten distracted here and there and missed a link or two.) The villain ... didn’t entirely make sense. (I’m pretty sure on that one, audio book or no.) But I liked it enough that I’m sticking with my 5 stars!

Such a fun read with a great cast of characters. In the vein of The Westing Game and Ready Player One, when a mysterious billionaire dies and invites all Boston to play a game with him, Tuesday Mooney and a gang of ragtag mystery hunters get to work. However, there are many ways to play the game and over the course of the book, Tuesday and her friends all find different challenges and dragons to slay all culminating in one night in a haunted house that puts many ghosts to rest. Tuesday is such a fun character - flawed, haunted (literally), too smart for her own good. All the characters in the book grow a lot and learn from their mistakes but Tuesday definitely has the best arc in my opinion. It is a book that relies on misunderstanding and lies, which can get a bit much, but the author seemed to know right when the audience had had enough and drops the next clue in the game. Hard to put down once you get started!

Tuesday Mooney Talks to Ghosts by Kate Racculia is a witty and engrossing novel that tells the story of a group of misfits who embark on a treasure hunt in the city of Boston. The protagonist, Tuesday Mooney, is a loner who works as a researcher for a wealthy eccentric named Vincent Pryce. When Pryce dies, he leaves behind a challenge for the citizens of Boston, promising a substantial cash prize to whoever can solve his elaborate puzzle. Tuesday, along with a colorful cast of characters including a struggling musician and a closeted professor, sets out to solve the puzzle and claim the prize.

One of the strengths of the novel is Racculia's ability to create memorable and eccentric characters. Tuesday Mooney is a complex and relatable protagonist, and her interactions with the other characters are both funny and poignant. Additionally, the use of ghosts and supernatural elements adds a layer of mystery and intrigue to the story, and the blend of the supernatural with the real-world setting of Boston creates a unique and compelling atmosphere.

The pacing of the novel is also well-done, with the suspense building steadily as the characters unravel the clues to Pryce's puzzle. The puzzle itself is cleverly crafted, and the reader is kept guessing until the very end. Additionally, Racculia's use of humor and pop culture references adds a playful tone to the story, and the novel is both entertaining and thought-provoking.

One of the only drawbacks of the novel is that some of the characters can feel a bit caricatured at times, particularly the more outlandish characters. However, this is offset by the richly detailed setting and the engaging plot, which keep the reader invested in the story.

Overall, Tuesday Mooney Talks to Ghosts is a fun and inventive novel that blends elements of mystery, humor, and the supernatural. It is a testament to the power of friendship and the importance of following one's passions, and a reminder of the ways in which our past experiences shape who we are.
