My immediate obsession with Gideon Nav and Harrowhark Nonagesimus is palpable. This series is for lovers of codependent freaks and evil women.

Genuinely can't stress this more: go into this blind, and expect your experience of the book to be unique to what you might've heard online. It's really hard to describe what this story is actually about, so it's best to experience it firsthand and draw your own conclusions :)

I HATED Harrowhark when I started, and I am so glad she managed to change my mind.
The worldbuilding was heavy and at times confusing, but the dialogue was engaging and refined and the fight scenes were cinematic.

This is the first book that I have ever wanted to read again. Now that I’ve read it twice, I can say that I would read it again and again.

Spoilers on overall mood and general feelings of how the book fits into the series:
The first time I read this book, I found it exceedingly scary. Upon rereading, it is much less scary, and much more full of information that matters a lot when it comes to revelations in the books Harrow and Nona. Muir has built an incredible universe full of compelling, frustrating, and heartbreaking individuals.

See below for my original (and continuing) feelings:

I’M SCREAMING AND CRYING AND THROWING UP - this is to say, oh my god read it. It’s worth it.
