As in the first book, what I found fascinating with the story is that it makes you reflect on different personalities with a new-to-you perspective and that is very refreshing. The story itself is the continuation of the first book obviously, a little more complicated and sometimes challenging to keep track of, but also very addictive and fun in many ways. Really recommend!

If I could only choose one series to read over again for the first time, it'd be these. Emily and Wendell are as charming as they are silly and flawed in their own special ways. How Heather Fawcett conceives of the workings of the fair folk and relays it to the reader is clever, imaginative, and rare. I had a hard time finishing only because I didn't want it to end.

Enjoyable and fun, not quite as good as book one but still liked it very much

As with the first book in this series, you really need to give it a few chapters to warm up. The prose is dense (by design) and the plot is thin on the ground at first.

If you enjoyed the first Emily Wilde book, you will love this! The descriptions of magic, Folk, and the various flora and fauna are, once again, vivid and exciting to read, and Emily's footnotes make a return too. At times, it made me feel like a child reading The Magic Faraway Tree!

I am excited to read the next, but sad it seems to be the final one.
