A waste of good writing just to exploit all the most profitable tropes and tricks.
Just long enough to not count as a novella but still insultingly short considering the normal audiobook price.
A title that is clearly meant to collect on confusion with kate daniels.
The book opens right into an extended sex scene because that is how you capture an audience.
Followed by tired enemies to lovers tropes but without any subtleties about their romantic relationship considering they fucked each other's brains out right at the start. Add a bit of angst and the by now famous Leia Stone pregnancy and the paranormal romance chlichée collection is complete.
We of course need a Japanese katana and a bunch of archaic Japanese culture elements for the weeb readers and a magical regulatory institution and all the other old UF clichées.
Everything about this was predictable and while most elements were clearly derivative from existing popular books nothing was outright plagiarism.

What makes me mad about this book is that it is not bad because the author is actually a competent writer. She (or rather they) can do without all this low-effort cheap crap.
I think if she tried she could actually write a pretty good book/series. But judging from all her more recent books she clearly tries to aggressively optimize for the most money per hour of work she possibly can get away with still.

Wolves are indeed Yummy

I’m not normally a fan of instant love but it was done well in this story. What started as a one night stand and a case of mistaken identity turned into the start of a good love connection with some complications. The world building and characters are amazing and I’m looking forward to the next one

I loved this book!

From the very first page I was completely drawn in and totally invested in the characters and the story. I didn't want to leave them.
This was one of those Urban Fantasy worlds that is really easy to believe in.
I love all the characters and their relationships with one another. I constantly found myself laughing and nodding along while agreeing with the MC. I can't pinpoint why I find Evie so relatable, but I totally do.
This is going to be such a badass series! I'm going to go pre-order the next book right now!

I'm carrying on with this, though I'm not really sure why ... the heroine has the inner narrative - and common sense - of a 10 year old girl. I think I just like the kitsune element. But I can't imagine I'll make it more than 1 book further if she doesn't develop some spine. I loathe stories where the supposed tough girl is a fainting doormat that allows the tough guy to make all the decisions and manage her life.

Furthermore, this story is all happening way too fast - it's unbelievable, and hard to feel invested. It's not exactly fated mates, but it's sure playing out that way.

Bounty hunter and dud witch, Evie Black works alongside her pink, furry and demonic best friend to haul the bad guys into custody in order to pay their bills. After a significant loss in her life, she stumbles into bed with a macho werewolf to forget her troubles. Unfortunately for her, he is a local alpha with super sperm and a serious attachment to her spunky self.⠀
This is a fun, slightly mad adventure following a preggers bounty hunter discovering her non-dud powers, negotiating life with an alpha werewolf baby-daddy and coming to terms with the fact that world is relying on her ability to close a demonic gate.⠀
I'm not usually into the baby-daddy fiction, but there is so much action in this one that its more of a side thought. I also love an overly sexed, ugly sidekick, which helps

Laughed a couple of times because sometimes it was funny and the first 35% was decent but the rest was...something. Would not recommend for sure. Too cliche.

Not a bad book. Didn't go where I expected it to, which was fun. Wouldn't have minded more detail on the world building. Fast paced. Funny. Decent action/fight scenes. Good romance, though it seemed a bit insta-lovey to me. Interesting magic. Again, I wish there were more detail. I'll likely read book two. 3.5 stars.

This book/narrative frustrated me so many times. I guess I enjoyed the story. To be honest though, some of this comes across so childish. It read like it was written by a teenager (or that Evie, a 24 yo, had the internal dialogue if and thought like one).

Evie had so much potential, and this story started so strong and I was excited, but there's nothing worse than developing a strong female character than to have than basically regress to 50s domesticated when a male with good dick enters her life, also in the timespan of a week (?).

I thoroughly enjoy the supernatural aspect (world) that was created. I enjoyed Evie's best friend and partner in the story.

This was free to read with Amazon prime.
