Meh. I already have had my guesses for her secret since pretty early on, nothing that has happened has proven me wrong at all. The last like 15% of the book hit the hardest for me. The Maven x Baelfire scene had some potential, but the group scene… 😬 what? Y’all thought that was hot? I’m still cringing a bit, for multiple reasons. It was not 🔥. Overall? I’m confused af, and not in a fun way.

I think this book would have been a totally different experience, and much more enjoyable, had the FMC revealed information to the reader instead of keeping everything to herself. How am I supposed to understand and empathize with her? I’m supposed to be on her side, but nothing was really done to make that happen besides cryptic hints about a tragic backstory. Especially adding in the games she played, and the way she went out of her way to be so heartless to them… I needed more than what I got.

The Boys… the had potential, but I really only liked Crypt and Silas, even though Silas was ridiculous at times. THE BET.. just why? What was its point, except to make me care less about what Maven was doing to them? It felt like something done just to make me dislike them. It came out of nowhere, and had just no premise until Maven’s POV at the end where she uses the bet to explain their perusal of her after the rejection. Everett, just idk, I have guesses but again, whyyy choose to keep everything from me? Past, present, future, families, blah blah, it’s all a big, annoying questionmark. Baelfire had potential, like I didn’t/don’t like him, don’t hate him, there’s just nothing really attaching me to him, mostly he irritates me… he feels like he’s 17 or something. Idk how old really anyone is, just vague allusions… vague allusions honestly could just be the title for this book, because they’re everywhere. Ugh.

This whole book felt like it was written just to be cryptic and make things more confusing than necessary. Curses are never really revealed, so we can’t understand say Everett’s true motivations, we can’t really understand anyone because it’s practically half of a story or something. Like, it felt manufactured, not a natural mysteriousness, like borderline unreliable narrator or something along those lines, instead of being intrigued and compelled by the mystery of it all. Overall, rather ambivalent about this book, didn’t love it, didn’t hate it, don’t really care to know more about anyone… curiousity about Crypt is really all I have.

A história me deixou muito intrigada.

Just moody and broody enough to keep me interested, but overall I’ve got a LOT of unanswered questions about Aria. Also going to give all the kudos for writing Baelfire as the perfect pathetic & begging kind of guy, *chefs kiss*
