When The Wicked Play by Tristina Brockway is a dark romance novella. 

This is the second book of Tristina's that I have read, and it won't be my last. I really enjoyed getting Charlie and Jax's points of views throughout the book. 

I did see at the end that Tristina mentioned she may turn it into a full-length novel at a later date. I really hope that she does because I think there is a great storyline here. But I felt with it being a novella it was just to rushed for me.

This is a wicked dark romance novella and it is not for the weak so please read trigger warnings. This was an incredible novella that's dark and twisted, I loved this so much and I can't wait for more from this author in the future.

Charlie was locked away in an asylum her whole life and when she finally escapes she's out for revenge against those who harmed her. She meets Jax who is a contract killer as they call it and he thinks he's the monster but he has no idea just how much rage Charlie has pent up and he just has to have her.

Charlie makes it out of a grave and that's the least of anyone's worry. She has been through so much crap and the retribution she seeks is fire. I only wish we could have seen more of the character development between her and Jax. Overall definitely a really great quick read for those who like them dark and vengeful! This review is my own opinion!

I enjoyed this one! It was a quick, easy read with a fun romance and two interesting main characters. I really liked Charlie her character was super fun to read about and she was able to be a super upbeat character despite everything she had gone through. Jax was an interesting love interest and although I was a little bit unsure about him in the beginning because of how quick his personality seemed to change but once I learned more about his past I understood him more. Jax and Charlie were perfect for each other and I really liked learning more about them together as well as their journey healing.

The story starts off from the very beginning. Charlie finds herself buried alive in a grave. Charlie manages to get herself out, and walks until she finds a bar. At the bar she meets siblings Jaxton and Ashlyn. 

After spilling her crazy story, of being raised in an insane asylum with her mother, who was a patient, and the doctor who fathered her. Charlie is determined to get revenge on everyone who wronged her, and Jax is happy to go along for the ride. 

This is a quick novella, that had me laughing out loud multiple times. I love Charlie, she’s such a badass character. She lived in hell for her first 18 years, and isn’t completely broken.

First of all the dedication page is *chefs kiss* make sure to check that out. 

This story was a good, quick paced revenge story. The FMC has a backstory that makes her morally grey behavior understandable. If you love dark romance, a quick read with a juicy character back story this is worth a read!
