3.5 stars. Not quite 4. I adored the FMC. I don’t think these two would ever work out IRL but nice to know the MMC got the giant stick out of his ass. Also, what exactly happened to him to make him such a grouch. It wasn’t totally convincing.

pinky promise is apart of the gummy bear orgy series, a series of stand alone romcom books.
the books was like if hallmark movies were spicy in the absolute BEST way.
another book making me kick my little feets, and giggle, and blush. we had our hallmark trope of a cute quirky girl, with her cute quirky job throwing a grumpy, rich, business boy for a loop. but then, we got us some not so hallmark spice and i'm here for it. we even got some waterworks for this book.
we've got friends with benefits, grumpy sunshine, best friend's brother/sister's best friend, with a smattering of enemies to lovers. the author's website has 4 more colors listed with this series and i can barely reign in my excitement at the thought.
per my spreadsheet:
spice 🌶 - a 4 🌶 spicy (romance.io scale)
length - just right
reading speed - read in 2 days
did it make me cry? - it did.

I wish I would’ve liked this book more and maybe I would have if the seriously uncomfortable word choice in the first couple chapters wouldn’t have been how we were introduced to the characters.
As I continued reading I found I just really didn’t like the FMC. She comes across as juvenile and childish, instead of free spirited with a child-like approach to the world.
I probably wouldn’t recommend this book, but I’ve read another book by the same author and I really enjoyed that one!

So, after our weekend getaway, I struggled with finding a book to read - between recouping, & getting back into the daily plans, not to mention not knowing what I was in the mood for, - I didn't know what to pick up.
But I finally found something to give it a-go. At first it was a bit slow going - not bc the book was slow, but bc of my mood. But once I got into the story I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Lala loves pink. Her clothes are pink, her car is pink, her hair is pink, even her pet ferret is pink. She is the very essence of joy, and people can't help but smile being in her presence.
So when her friend dares her to make a scowling-but hot- stranger on the street smile, Lala agreed. She strolled right up to him, planting a kiss on his lips. Only, the stranger, it turns out is one of her friend's older brothers- Henry. And she makes it her mission to make him smile.
So like I said, I enjoyed this book. It was a fun grumpy/sunshine rom-com, with fun banter & some steam.
Lala is the epitome of sunshine - pink makes her happy, and she spreads that happiness to others. She does what makes her happy.
Henry is grumpy, and doesn't have time for happiness or smiling, only his strict work schedule.
So what happens when Lala makes it her mission to make Henry smile?
This book was cute & fun & I enjoyed every minute of it. Can't wait to add the next book of the series of standalones to my TBR. 4⭐ out of 5⭐.
3🌶️ out of 5🌶️. A few detailed scenes throughout the book.
Tropes:
→ rom-com
→ grumpy/sunshine
→ friend's older brother
→ opposites attract
→ millionaire MMC
→ sassy FMC

Full on grumpy/sunshine story - Lala is cute, a little immature for her age (imo) however her keep moving forward attitude is infectious. You don’t have to be loved by everyone but those that love you do so fiercely.
I was a beta reader and really enjoyed the process, the author’s process of taking feedback and listening to her readers. Was excited to get a print copy in hand and enjoy a reread :)
Looking forward to seeing follow ups.

The “meet cute” is the FMC assaulting the MMC.
