I thought that parts of this book were really enjoyable (particularly the Parks and Recreation chapter - yay Parks and Recreation!), but that others fell flat. I just didn't think that the book was that funny. Which I realize may not have been Amy Poehler's intention, but when I read a book by Amy Poehler I expect it to be funny, like Bossypants (by Tina Fey) was. Overall I would say I liked it but that it wasn't as good as it could have been.

Amy Poehler is fantastic and so is Yes Please. This book is hilarious, kind of sad at times, but mostly so incredibly funny I laughed out loud on the train. The audiobook is narrated by the author which I really enjoyed.

Super enjoyable even though the most I’ve really ever seen of Amy Poehler has been her awards show hosting gig(s?). This was definitely more a collection of essays than a tell-all memoir, but she’s very funny and gives good advice and has lovely friends (shame about Louis CK, though), and it makes me want to give “Parks and Rec” another try. (Oh, and I listened to the audio version, which seems important.)

I chuckled and laughed out loud to some bits. I love how raw and real she is with parts of her life and her straightforwardness that hard humor to the entire piece.

I listened to this and would highly recommend the audiobook! It made for the perfect long travel day and moving and unpacking listen!

4 stars because I listened to the delightful author read it herself. Otherwise it would have been a 3...or possibly even a 2 star.

Loved listening to this book. Amy reads it and has special guest readers such as Patrick Stewart, Kathleen Turner, Carol Burnett and Seth Meyers. You'll laugh and you might cry, but I recommend listening to this book.

I don't really know what I was expecting, but I have been wanting to read her and Tina Fey's and Mindy Kaling's books... This was disappointing. Although I must admit, she does tell you not to get your hopes up about it. I know she worked hard on it, but it was sooooo rambling and unorganized and a little pointless (unless there are multiple points: Amy knows and talks to famous people, Parks and Rec, more Hollywood stuff and other famous people, and then a chapter about cell phones to neatly finish up the book after chapters on sex, drugs, and orphans). I mean, I still like Amy Poehler and everything. I've never been a diehard fan... heck, I've never even seen Parks and Rec (that chapter was a bit over my head). Anyway, I wavered between one and two stars.
