Jessica Simpson is an icon who has revolutionized what we consider pop culture and celebrity impact, from pioneering what we consider reality TV to launching a billion dollar fashion company. You can see why she's so loved with her infectious laugh as she tells her story with humble charm, and she goes into depth about her highs (landing a record deal, starting her clothing line, marrying her Husband Eric Johnson) and lows (overcoming SA from a young age, divorce in a family that doesn't believe in separation, her bouts with alcoholism). You feel like you're catching up with a friend who happens to be an international superstar, which will definitely inspire you to watch her past music videos and clips from Newlyweds. Highly recommend for anyone that wants to relive 2000s nostalgia.

When it comes to celebrity memoirs, they can be fairly hit or miss, depending on the intention of the writer and whether or not the celebrity even wrote their own book. In this particular case, Simpson's voice comes through clearly, and she is able to showcase her writing skills in a charming and vulnerable way. As an avid fan of Newlyweds when it was playing on MTV, I was, just like the rest of the audience, rooting for the seemingly picture-perfect life and relationship between Jessica and Nick. No one's marriage should have that much pressure placed on it, and in this case, the public nature of their relationship was definitely a contributing factor to its eventual downfall.

She doesn't stray from difficult and controversial topics, and she provides a rare glimpse into the real-life of celebrities and the price of fame. She delves deeply into the complicated relationship she has with her parents, their support, and the ways in which they have disappointed her.

Even though Simpson is not the most gifted writer, you can feel her heart come through on these pages. It sounds like her voice, and I commend her for letting us see her true self in this book.

Entertaining auto-biography, dives deeper into some of the highs and lows of Jessica Simpson’s life in the public eye.

All in all, seems like a very genuine account from someone who is constantly learning who she is and what motivates her.

Thoughts

I was always more of a Mandy Moore and Jessica Simpson fan than a Britney fan(not that there is anything wrong with Britney. Don't come for me) if I am being honest. So why did I buy this and leave it sitting forever? We'll never know.

I am not sure what I was expecting out of this book but it was really good. She spoke her truth about her trouble with men. What they did wrong and also held herself accountable for things she did wrong.

She was really vulnerable in this book and I think coupled with good writing and her having time to heal before writing really made a difference in this book.

My thoughts while listening to this one were, "Why are so many celebrities sooooo christian?!" "I have never heard one story by a female celebrity about Justin Timberlake that was good." "Why are people still dating John Mayer?!" "I think people should have learned by now not to let their fathers be their managers!"

Lots of emotions. If you like celebrity memoirs I think you will really like this one.
