I enjoyed the worldbuilding of this book and thought the plot was really interesting. Went right out and got the sequel to continue the series!

what an amazing, wonderful, beautifully-written book! I can't believe this is a debut! my only qualm is that the romance seemed to happen a bit quickly

at least on Ayla's side; I found it unrealistic how quickly she fell for someone she's spent her life hating and dreaming of killing; someone who represents oppression and evil.

(though, I suppose we sapphics, especially with our first loves, do fall quickly!)

 however, I am so excited that this is a series, and the second I finished Crier's War I began to read Iron Heart.

This was one of the first queer books I read so it holds a really special place in my heart. I reread it for a book club and it's even better than I remembered.

At first, this book was quite hard to get into, so it took me a while. But it was worth it! Really enjoyed the story and the characters! They were just so sweet together, I really look forward to reading the second book!

Very world-building based. It would be great if you're really into in-depth fantasy worlds, but that's not really my thing. Some parts move really fast while others move very slowly.
