Meredith is a brilliant protagonist and her story has so much richness and depth. Her life is so carefully crafted it almost seems desirable at first. But the development and gradual broadening of her tiny world is what makes this book so gorgeous.

Tom and Celeste are fantastic new friends to counter the history that we learn gradually throughout the story. There's so much tragedy in Meredith's early life, and her resilience is something to cling to in the really emotional moments.

I love that there is no huge gesture at the end of the book; fractured relationships progress gradually and Meredith heals quietly, she doesn't get instantly better. But there's infinitely more realism (and optimism as a result) this way, and I was so much more connected as a result.

A beautiful, hopeful story with some really wonderful characters.

Really enjoyed this book - great characters with interesting back stories and well written alternating between past and present. Having been housebound for months due to illness I identified some of the feelings of the main character (!), fortunately without having a trauma history and depression. Easy read that is both sad and funny at times

Please read the TW for the book before you dive in - the cute little description gives no background for the intensity of the story

I hope everyone has a Celest, Sadie and Tom in their lifes!

I really really liked this book. Could have been a tiny bit shorter but the pacing and everything was still great.
