Emblaze is a true masterpiece, it’s one of those rare books that fall into the middle of a series but still manages to hold it’s own. Violet returns from the Middle East more confused than ever. I’ve really felt for Violet since the beginning, I’ve always felt that she never got to make her own decisions. Everything was a baited trap, and really any choice she made wasn’t the choice she wanted. I’ve never felt so bad for a main character, I know that things were difficult for her before, but this books seems to amplify that. Lincoln is just as cold as ever, and I know he cares/loves Violet, but I think that it’s terrible they have to be around each other so much. How could they possibly hope to move forward having to interact with each other every day. I think it’s the cruelest thing about the whole situation.
As always Phoenix was a huge character in this book, the more I learn about him the worse I feel for him. I know that Violet really did care for him, and I think she could’ve learned to love him, but he had to let being an exile ruin that. I know that part of Violet will always love him, and every time I think I truly learn to hate him, I learn that it isn’t possible. Yes, he is bad, in every possible way, but there’s such a strain of emotion in him that it makes it impossible for me to truly hate him.
The end of this book shocked me to my core, poor Violet, how much can the world keep piling on her? How is she ever supposed to be a fully functional human being if all that happens is twist after twist?
The writing as always was amazing, and I always feel sucked in to the world that Shirvington has created. Her characters are so very real, and so varied in personality that each one feels like meeting someone for the first time. There are no cookie-cutter people in this book. Everyone is damaged, and everyone has their strength’s. It’s part of what makes this series so remarkable and lovable. I absolutely can’t wait for the finale to this saga.

One of the most heart wrenching books I've read, this is the best installment of The Violet Eden Chapters yet.
The way Shirvington blends Biblical facts with a beautiful tale had me glued to the book till the very last page.
Following the events in Jordan, Violet is supported by her friends as they try to stop Phoenix from unleashing something terrible upon the world.
But through it all, Violet and Phoenix's connection makes them both falter in their moves and Lincoln must watch, unable to do anything or risk shattering a soul if one of them dies.
It is here that Shirvington's eloquent language weaves passion, forbidden love and pent up desire into prose that left my heart aching and tears blotting the pages.
"Love will kill us all".
Forbidden love, sacrifice, family, friendship; Emblaze has it all.

I can't believe I'm going to have to hold out another year until the next one comes out.

Are you fucking kidding me????

Ok ik it's not wrong to love Phoenix, bc almost everyone else does too. I've been waiting this entire series, so far, for her to choose to be w/ Phoenix, bc holy sh*t I ship it. Ik he's not bad and ever sense I saw that one of the exiles had the ability to make people go into a coma like sleep, I got a theory that Rudyard, when killed, wasn't the cause of Nyla's coma like sleep, I'm probably over thinking, but I have a theory that exile, sense I think he was there, in the fight, put Nyla in that comma, which will be the reason why Linc and Violet become a couple. I also have to say I want Lincoln to make a move, idk y bc I definitely like Phoenix WAY better, but like I still like Lincoln and every time he gets so close to making a move, I seriously start screaming, in my head, obviously, for him to make the freaking move.

Emblaze is book three in the Violet Eden Chapters! You really must read this series in order and start at the beginning!

This series follows, you guessed it, Violet Eden. The first book is about Violet discovering something about herself on her 17th birthday. I guess it wouldn’t be spoiler to mention that she’s not exactly human. She ends up discovering this whole new world beyond what she’s always known and a mysterious letter from her mom.

This was probably my favorite installment of the series yet. There was a lot of action, and my favorite characters were back. I need so much more Spence, there was not enough Spence this time around. And I’m so glad that we finally got to see into the mind of Phoenix, although it didn’t really tell me anything I didn’t already know. It’s obvious how he feels even if Violet is too distracted to see it.

This could be a bit spoilery if you haven’t read book one. But I am so over Violet and Lincoln’s not going to happen, happening, not going to happen relationship. SO OVER IT. I didn’t want them to be together in the first place anyway, but something has got to give! I can’t take it anymore. Nothing against Lincoln, he’s the perfect guy if he was flippin’ available! Argh!

But yes, so much action, this one is just one thing after another. It made those 400 some pages fly by! And that ending. I had a lot of what was going to happen figured out with the whole “prophecy” thing, but that other thing that happens. Holy guacamole! Did not see that coming. This should make for an interesting book four!

Looking forward to seeing what kind of trouble Violet gets herself into next!

Violet is trying to live her every day as normal as possible, all while wearing a glamoured (so nobody can see it) weapon, holding after school fight training and hunting down exiles at night. And now, thanks to his new girlfriend’s influence, Violet’s father is showing a sudden interest in her life. When Violet and her family of Grigori are dishonest in their plan to swap the Grigori Scriptures with the Exile Scriptures with Phoenix, he kidnaps her best friend Stephanie. Now they have to swap the Scriptures for Steph’s life.

I loved this book! There was so much action, but it didn’t take the place of character development; there was plenty of that as well. Violet started to finally get a grasp on her strength and powers. She matured quite a bit and didn’t go running off half-cocked. Her father actually started to act like a father, and you could almost see the moment where he realized how much he’d screwed everything up by not being around. We got to see things Phoenix’s point of view, and they really helped shape his persona. We know why he acted the way he did in the earlier books. It certainly made me like him a bit better. And Lincoln… wonderful Lincoln. Finally, we know how he truly felt about Violet. It was a long time coming, but worth the wait.

The action was almost non-stop. Between the night time exile hunting, fighting Phoenix and the island battles, it seemed like there was lot more fighting than usual. There was also a lot more emotion in this book than in the previous ones. The characters were finally being more upfront about their feelings, though sometimes Violet’s need for Lincoln became almost comical in its strength. Luckily, there was an actual reason for that, it wasn’t just to make things more dramatic.

There was a bit of “I’m secretly planning something stupid instead of talking to someone about our options.” which really drives me nuts. Communicate, people! The scenery was wonderful, I could picture the Greek Islands as Violet did, especially the volcano and lighthouse. There is a cliffhanger, but it’s not unsatisfactory. It’s more of a surprise than a true cliffhanger.

The sum up: Another home run in the Violet Eden series. I can’t wait for the next one!

Can Violet and Lincoln not catch a break? ARGH! Excellent edge of your seat read, but emotionally draining at the same time. Aye, Violet! Review to come.
