Heartbreaking and inspiring all in one

I couldn't put this book down. The author made you feel like you were a fly on the wall watching a horrible tragedy unfold into a resurrection. A true survival story.

This book was amazing. I have never wanted to become an advocate so quickly in my life. Each person is different, the signs people show aren’t the same. So mindful and advocating for those who need after reading this book.

“Not even the stars were brave enough to watch, as they cowered behind overcast skies”. I see why this book is often a required reading for students because it shows every aspect to assault allegations. This book did a great job in addressing the issues within the social services system in a way to show how difficult it can be to speak out. I hope that those who are suffering in silence can read this book and find the courage that Brooke had to change her life. “I find it unbelievable that a glass of spilled milk as what gave one little girl more strength and poise than I have ever seen in this court room”

The gripping true story of the author’s childhood, being sexually abused by an evil father. Amazing to read of her strength in protecting her siblings, her realization that this wasn’t “normal”, and her ability to persevere as a young adult...and choosing a profession in the field of domestic violence.
Truly inspiring!

This story is heartbreaking and empowering all at the same time. It offers an insight into childhood minds and a great reminder of how as mental health professionals we can help. My heart broke for Brooke but found her to be an inspiration and a brave soul in the fight for Justice against her own father.

Wow.. this is a very raw and touching story. It’s difficult to imagine any child going through something like this. Thank you for sharing your story and for doing the work you continue to do.

I found K.L. Randis on TikTok and read her book after learning more about her personal story. She is a fierce woman who went through incredibly hard times throughout her life. This book talks about her experiences of childhood abuse. It is a very heavy read but was very important for me to read as an educator because I do not always know what students home lives are like. This book gave me a new perspective on how to give grace to everyone because you never know the struggles others may be going through.

Wow. I like reading psychological thrillers and true crime stories, so I am used to reading some pretty dark content. I had to put this book down a few times just so I could catch my breath and regroup. This is a story about a survivor and one that I will always remember.
