Interesting. Not sure I really understood all the philosophical contingents of the book but I will say it was visually stunning - I love how the text was arranged around all of the images, and how the two referenced one another. I will say, for a book published in 1967 and for all the talk about change and modernization, there is a striking lack of reference to important social movements of the time (civil rights, women's liberation, anti-war protests, etc.). I would have loved to see how McLuhan's theories of change apply practically to the real life examples of change that he saw in his everyday life.

Marshall McLuhan's famous philosophy in a nice compact and original graphic format. While I was at first skeptical of this image-driven book (I am no fan of graphic novels) I find that it reads quite well -- much better than the Introducing... series. I think in both content and style The Medium is the Massage is a wonderful book for both those new to McLuhan and those familiar with him.
