A compelling story unfortunately full of misogyny. This is the first Niel Gaiman novel I've read and I will not read any more. Every female character is sexualized from young girls to old women. Gaiman should only write about men.

Would have given this five stars if it hadn't got so frou-frou and dragged a little bit at the end. I could've sworn I'd read this, but nothing about it seemed familiar. Great characters, engaging plot, just enough twists to make it interesting. I do wish I knew more about the gods of other cultures, because I'm sure I would've gotten more out of some of the characterizations.

It took me forever to finish this book. I couldn't get into the characters very much, and was never fully engaged in the story. Just not my cup of tea.

Great world building, really bland storytelling.

Very well written just not my favourite of his. Very long and convoluted. Had to audiobook it and the chapters were mostly an hour long. Pacing felt slow and the “world building” was absolutely endless. I like the concept and the characters, and his style of writing will always be one of my favourites but this one just dragged. Even when I thought I’d finished, there was more.
