As I said in my review of this first book, if this series had been spread across more books, or even longer books, and had a better editor, this series would be one of the top ones out there.

I love this series so much, and no matter how many times I read it, I will always, always love it.

I really like this author and enjoy her other series (An Unfortunate Fairy Tale). This series is not my favorite, but it is interesting. This book was difficult because a character would be introduced in passing and then later show up like you should remember who they are. Then, all these people are connected to them somehow and I just got lost quite a bit. I want to know what happens, so I will read the 3rd one, but I hope it isn't as confusing to me.

The second book of the trilogy was a little more well written than the first but it definitely seems to be written more for a younger YA crowd.

The story is intriguing but the writing is absolutely horrible. If the characters were consistent I might have been less harsh, but all the characters seem to be suffering from bipolar disorder. Within a few sentences they go from happy to mad to sad to confused, and none of them can focus on anything for more than five seconds. After learning major plot points Thalia gets distracted by the most mundane things. She refuses to tell anyone about the important things she discovers, and is constantly confused by why no one is around to help her when she fails to let them know she's planning to do something stupid and dangerous. I really want to like these books, because I think the story has merit. I just wish an editor would go through these and point out the inconsistencies before the third book comes out.
